No need to invest hundreds of dollars in tools! Additional clay may be purchased if required.\n– This class is suitable for absolute beginners\, as well as those with some experience. Practice is required to expand your skills\, no matter what your experience level.\n– Learn the basics of throwing on the wheel\, as well as trimming (removing the excess clay)\, and a little hand-building.\n– You should be prepared for a challenge. Wheel throwing is much more difficult than anyone expects. 🙂\n– We will explore several decoration techniques\, and students will glaze their pieces in the last class.\n– Small class-size of 5 students max. DESCRIPTION:Kevin Drew + Thanya Iyer at Wilmot United Church\nDoors 7pm / Show 8pm\nAll Ages\n‘Aging’\, the third solo album from Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew\, was the inevitable title of his meditative new record – because he was living everything that comes with it. Influenced by the recent passing of friends and mentors\, as well as the declining health of close family\, ‘Aging’ brings together songs written over a decade marked by the signifiers of midlife – love\, loss\, and illness – all while wrestling with the hard truths of aging.\nThe album’s 8-song collection of minimalist piano ballads is darker and more contemplative than anything Drew has released before. Across the 33-minutes can be found the spirit of Drew classics like “Lover’s Spit” and “Sweetest Kill\,” but with a sense of sorrow rarely heard on previous material. DESCRIPTION:Pallmer + Pompey at Beaverbrook Art Gallery\nDoors 5:30PM / Show 6PM\nAll Ages – FREE\nPallmer is a chamber-pop project born from late night improv sessions during a particularly snowy winter in Fredericton\, New Brunswick. Using a cello and viola\, the band’s music melds their love of songwriting with their classical training\, using loopers and effects to expand the possibilities of their wooden instruments. Pallmer’s most recent release\, “Quiet Clapping” won Recording of the Year at the 2021 Prix MNB Awards. The collection of five songs were recorded in a large dance studio at the back of a church-converted-to-arts centre\, taking advantage of its natural resonance\, and embracing the occasional noises from old water heating. Pallmer released a limited edition\, double-header vinyl run of “Quiet Clapping” & their 2019 release\, “Grass Garden” on April 9th\, 2022.\nPompey’s songwriting is fuelled by an ongoing search for comfort. Together\, Justine Everett\, Juanita Bourque and Sylvia Reentovich hold the focus as they seamlessly weave three part harmonies into every song they sing. Proceeds from this performance will be donated towards funding summer camp experiences for vulnerable/at-risk youth and children at Bar None Camp in 2024.\nStephen Lewis and Bobby Mahar first started playing Dave Matthews songs together when they met in high school nearly 20 years ago.
