SUMMARY:Absolute Losers/Prism Shores/Townie/Owen Steel
DESCRIPTION:Come on out to Haven Music Hall on May 24 to see ABSOLUTE LOSERS\, PRISM SHORES\, TOWNIE\, and OWEN STEEL!!! \nDoors 7pm\nShow 8pm\n19+\n$10+tax advance\, $15+tax at the door! \nSince forming in 2019\, Absolute Losers have earned a reputation for their air-tight live shows that deliver one burst of energy after the next. In August of 2023\, they released their debut album\, “At The Mall\,” a danceable 12-track offering that confronts hardships without taking itself too seriously. On their debut\, the band camouflages pop sensibilities with wiry guitar work\, intertwining bass and drum parts\, and hook-laden\, nonchalant vocals. In their latest efforts\, Absolute Losers shed the camouflage and proudly bear their knack for catchy melodies\, soaring harmonies\, and straight-to-point pop songwriting.\nShaped by the aesthetic sensibilities of vintage UK/New Zealand indie pop\, Montreal’s Prism Shores blend the genre’s jangling guitars and deliberate melodies with traces of shoegaze\, dream pop\, and post-punk\, refracting their influences through a lens distinctly their own. Their sophomore album is due out in January 2025.\nBorn out of postcards and long distance phone calls between friends\, Townie’s trio of songwriters collaborates with a prolific group of musicians across the country\, featuring three insightful and unique voices\, they draw influence from folk revival with a DIY ethos.\nSince 2008\, Owen Steel has written and released various folk / garage sounds under his own name\, as well as with such acts as The Belle Comedians\, Mike Trask\, Dana Sipos\, and Motherhood. He has toured from Newfoundland to the Yukon\, Texas to Sweden and points in between\, appearing at folk festivals\, freak festivals\, basement bars\, soft seaters\, pizza joints and more; By thumb\, boat\, band van and train\, Steel has made his way under the radar and into the ears of a small but mighty group of listeners.\n——–\nAccessibility\nHaven Music Hall is a street-level small music venue without fixed seating. This show is combination standing and seating room only. Our entrance exterior is a 34″ wide door that has a small lip/step up from the street. Once inside\, our entrance vestibule has three steps up into the space with an interior entrance opening of 70″. We have two single-use washrooms with toilets. SUMMARY:Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic/Lazermortis/The Gregories
DESCRIPTION:Enter a dreamscape of sound with Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic\, Lazermortis and The Gregories on Friday May 31st.\nDoors at 7pm\nShow at 8pm\n19+\n$10+tax advance\n$15+tax at the door\n—\nDillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic\n“Dillon Ryan & the Dream Romantic are a new wave band from the East Coast of Canada based out of Moncton/Miramichi NB. The band is authentically breathing new life into the underexplored genres of new wave\, goth and post punk. Their inspiration from the Smiths\, Echo & The Bunnymen and the Cure is marvelously palpable in their material yet their work remains completely fresh. Their hauntingly melodic landscapes swallow you into a cinematic gothic universe. It’s soothing yet scary and you just can’t get enough. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. Their music somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time\, it’s a rare and honest dichotomy. The band is a 4 time Music New Brunswick award nominee and winner of the 2017 “Fans Choice Award”. Ryan has released 3 albums to date and is currently touring in support of the newest album “In Polaroid” which was produced by John Mullane (In-Flight Safety)\nLazermortis\nLazermortis is a full time funeral director and embalmer by day and an 80’s inspired synthwave/outrun artist by night. Hailing from Atlantic Canada\, Lazer released her debut album Backseat Demons on June 30\, 2020\, which has achieved over 70K streams on Spotify with her standout track Below The Sunrise! Her latest EP\, Autonetic Afterlife is a marriage between her career and her passion for synthwave\, exploring how artificial intelligence might perceive death and the afterlifet.\nThe Gregories\nThe Gregories are quartet of musicians based in Moncton\, New Brunswick. They play strange pop\, art rock\, and disquieting love songs. While their music evokes an era that straddles the 1970’s and 80’s\, it is still thoroughly contemporary and defies nostalgia. Often humorous and dream-like \, David Gregory’s lyrics probe the absurdities of being human. Their first record “The Offal Truth” was released in the autumn of 2018. It was recorded\, mixed and produced by Pierre-Guy Blanchard who is best known for his work with Les Hay Babies\, Lisa LeBlanc and Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire. Currently promoting their current record “Tonights The Day” .\n—\nAccessibility\nHaven Music Hall is a street-level small music venue without fixed seating. SUMMARY:***LAST 50 TICKETS***Daniel Champagne (Australia) LIVE at Charlotte Street Arts Centre | Fredericton
DESCRIPTION:The young Australian virtuoso returns to Canada for 56 intimate and one of a kind performances across the country!\nMay 31 – Charlotte Street Art Centre\, Fredericton\n7pm doors / 7:30pm show\nTickets (very limited) https://events.humanitix.com/daniel-champagne-australia-live-at-charlotte-street-arts-centre-or-fredericton?_gl=1*1uwzbza*_ga*NTAxODQyNTI0LjE2OTUyMjU3MTI.*_ga_LHKW5FR9N6*MTY5NTczMzAwOS4zLjEuMTY5NTczNDUzNy4zMS4wLjA.\nBIOGRAPHY\nGrowing up in the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales\, Australia the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12\, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could\, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school\, turned professional and hit the road without looking back.\nThe following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums\, tour relentlessly around the globe\, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel\, INXS\, John Butler\, Lucinda Williams\, Ani DiFranco\, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela.\nHe has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”\, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and from March to June 2024 he will be touring Canada\, from Vancouver Island in the West out to Newfoundland in the east and 56 towns in between!\nWHAT THE PRESS SAY..\n“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills\, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald\, CANADA\n“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in the thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.” The Firefly Column\, USA\n“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues\, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. I firmly believe that he will become an ambassador for roots music in a time where it desperately needs representation.” The Indie Blender\, CANADA\n“reinventing roots guitar” Rhythms Magazine\, AUSTRALIA\n“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” BW Review\, NEW ZEALAND\n“Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage\, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band\, Champagne is just magical” Themusic.com.au\, AUSTRALIA\n“You feel as if he just invented the instrument yesterday and was discovering its possibilities afresh” Ted Gioia (American jazz critic and music historian)\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1158026688918781/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- Soul Filter/Lilys Day/Joe Ross at Par 94
DESCRIPTION:“FOUR!!”\nWe are back for another year at Par 94 to rock the astro turf\nJoe Ross 8 PM\nLily’s Day 9:15 PM\nSoul Filter 10:30 PM\nEntrance\, $5 or festival pass\nPasses available here https://locarius.io/organizations/37\nSoul Filter is a four-piece\, award nominated Alt Rock-Pop band from Summerside\, PEI. Lead singer-songwriter Karen Penton weaves introspective silver linings through love and misery of the human condition with an often nostalgic 90s vibe inspired by artists such as Alanis Morisette\, Holly MaNarland\, Sheryl Crow & The Tragically Hip. The band’s latest singles “Quicksand Town” and “The City Knows” were both semi-finalists in the The International Songwriting Competition\, the former being produced and co-written by John Angus MacDonald of The Trews. In 2020 Soul Filter’s debut album “A Minor Conspiracy” garnered them a Music PEI nomination for Rock Recording of the Year. Band members include Karen Penton on lead vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar\, Marc Robichaud on drums\, Ronnie Arsenault on bass & Mike Penton on electric guitar.\nLilys Day is a rock/pop rock band from Saint John\, NB. They have been playing lots of shows over the past year and are turning heads with their powerful live performance. Led by a very strong female vocal. And guitar driven songs.\nIt may have been 20 years since Fredericton musician Joe Ross last entered a recording studio but as his latest single clearly demonstrates\, Ross hasn’t missed a beat. Where the Wild Resides is full of playful pop energy\, propelled by the laidback momentum of a lazy summer’s afternoon drive.\n“This is my first proper recording since 2003. Long dead in music years\,” said Ross. “It was tracked\, mixed\, and mastered at Shiftwork Studios by Dylan Ward. I borrowed his Marian bandmate Stefan Westner to play drums. Without us ever playing together before\, he nailed the track in a couple of takes.”\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/3555927501387616/

SUMMARY:Eddy Currents LIVE @ Five & Dime
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to have Eddy Currents make his Five & Dime debut on his first-ever Atlantic Canadian tour!\nShow time: 9pm.Cover: PWYC\n—-About Eddy:https://eddycurrents.net/home\nA lifelong musical journey begins when you grow up in a house filled with classical music and the Rolling Stones. Playing an array of instruments from an early age\, a new melody or lyric was always waiting to be scribbled down at a moment’s notice. Several years later and following a decade on the road\, various colorful tales of ordinary lives had been amassed. This epoch would then culminate in the retreat to a Toronto studio where these narratives could be brought to life. Armed with eight tunes surrounded by an air of melancholy\, reflection and hope\, this collection of songs would introduce the original musicality of Eddy Currents to the world.\nInfluenced heavily by the writings of Warren Zevon\, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Peart\, his eponymous debut album was released in 2020. Each of the album’s songs are somewhat reflective of the city in which they were written; from Halifax to Manhattan to Munich. Composed primarily on the piano\, the album weaves between genres throughout. The sounds of Folk\, Celtic\, Rock and Synth-Pop can be found\, where the only constant in the arrangement is the plangent\, lead baritone vocal that narrates these distinctly human accounts.\nThe year 2021 saw the release of two singles\, Crossroad and The Breakline\, both of which continued to build upon the singer-songwriter styling introduced on the debut album and gained him considerable momentum on various Indie Folk playlists. In 2023\, Eddy Currents music was streamed in 140 countries on Spotify alone\, assisted by the release of the first six tracks off of his upcoming album\, Electric Minds. His energetic solo live sets have been engaging audiences all over North America for the past 2 years\, with new dates being consistently added. So\, turn up your amps and stay tuned…\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/966559191732839/
