SUMMARY:Living Roots- Soul Filter/Lilys Day/Joe Ross at Par 94
DESCRIPTION:“FOUR!!”\nWe are back for another year at Par 94 to rock the astro turf\nJoe Ross 8 PM\nLily’s Day 9:15 PM\nSoul Filter 10:30 PM\nEntrance\, $5 or festival pass\nPasses available here https://locarius.io/organizations/37\nSoul Filter is a four-piece\, award nominated Alt Rock-Pop band from Summerside\, PEI. Lead singer-songwriter Karen Penton weaves introspective silver linings through love and misery of the human condition with an often nostalgic 90s vibe inspired by artists such as Alanis Morisette\, Holly MaNarland\, Sheryl Crow & The Tragically Hip. The band’s latest singles “Quicksand Town” and “The City Knows” were both semi-finalists in the The International Songwriting Competition\, the former being produced and co-written by John Angus MacDonald of The Trews. In 2020 Soul Filter’s debut album “A Minor Conspiracy” garnered them a Music PEI nomination for Rock Recording of the Year. Band members include Karen Penton on lead vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar\, Marc Robichaud on drums\, Ronnie Arsenault on bass & Mike Penton on electric guitar.\nLilys Day is a rock/pop rock band from Saint John\, NB. They have been playing lots of shows over the past year and are turning heads with their powerful live performance. Led by a very strong female vocal. And guitar driven songs.\nIt may have been 20 years since Fredericton musician Joe Ross last entered a recording studio but as his latest single clearly demonstrates\, Ross hasn’t missed a beat. Where the Wild Resides is full of playful pop energy\, propelled by the laidback momentum of a lazy summer’s afternoon drive.\n“This is my first proper recording since 2003. Long dead in music years\,” said Ross. “It was tracked\, mixed\, and mastered at Shiftwork Studios by Dylan Ward. I borrowed his Marian bandmate Stefan Westner to play drums. Without us ever playing together before\, he nailed the track in a couple of takes.”\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/3555927501387616/

Conceived a decade ago by visionary front man Ji Sharp\, the band has swiftly ascended as a tour de force in the realm of live performances. This fiery unit has a deep bond with their audience\, with each performance delivering an energetic and emotional experience that captivates and energizes listeners. Their live shows skillfully mix precision and spontaneity\, creating a memorable experience that lingers long after the music ends.\nThe coast has always been an important meeting place. It’s the place where water\, wind\, land\, people\, and culture all end up together. Think of The Big South like the coastline; a meeting place for musical voyagers. Using traditional East Coast music as a base\, The Big South takes whatever bits of musical driftwood it finds washed up on shore and uses them to build something new. Whether these come from Europe\, America\, or the Caribbean\, The Big South uses these elements to create a sound that is truly unique.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/443293604718856/

SUMMARY:Ecstatic Dance/ Movement
DESCRIPTION:Since our first ecstatic dance event in Saint John was a great success\, why not do it again?!\nJoin us for an ecstatic dance/ movement event in the heart of Saint John\, New Brunswick\, where we’ll come together to celebrate movement\, music\, and community.\nDate: Tuesday June 11th\, 2024\nTime: 7pm – 9pm **Please arrive a few minutes early or on time so that we can all start together.**\nLocation: The Kent Theatre\, 24 Coburg St\, Saint John\, NB\nWhat is Ecstatic Dance?\nEcstatic dance is more than just movement; it’s a mindful practice\, a sacred journey of self-discovery through dance and music. Unlike traditional dance settings\, there are no choreographed routines\, no judgments\, and no expectations. Participants are invited to let go of their inhibitions\, surrender to the music\, and move intuitively from the depths of their souls. In other words\, ecstatic movement is a form of self-expression.\nWho is this for?\n\nAll bodies looking to explore ecstatic movement.\n\nWhat to Expect:\n\nDiverse Music: Diverse playlist spanning various genres and tempos\, from ambient sounds to tribal beats\, allowing you to explore a spectrum of emotions and sensations.\nSafe Space: This event is a judgment-free zone where you can express yourself authentically without fear of criticism. We celebrate diversity and inclusivity\, welcoming people from all backgrounds and walks of life. There will be ZERO tolerance for discrimination of any kind.\nCommunity Connection: Join fellow dancers in a shared journey of self-expression and liberation. Connect with like-minded individuals and forge meaningful connections on and off the dance floor.\n\nStructure of the Event:\n\nOpening Circle: The group will come together and talk about what ecstatic movement is\, ask questions\, play a little get to know you game\, and review the event’s guidelines for consent and courtesy.\nDance/ Movement: The music will last about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The tempo and energy of the music will take you through a warm up to cool down journey to connect with your body and move as you wish. This time is for you to utilize as you see fit.\nClosing: After the music ends we will regroup with everyone and share a few words about our experience. Spend some time connecting with other participants if you wish or take quiet time with yourself.\nFacilitator: There will always be a facilitator present to offer insight\, direction\, structure\, and to hold the integrity of the container. Please feel free to tap the facilitator on the shoulder at any time for assistance or otherwise.\n\nWhy Attend? \n\nStress Relief: Dance away your worries and cares as you release endorphins and tension from your body.\nSelf-Expression: Discover new depths of self-awareness and emotional well-being as you express yourself freely through movement.\nPhysical Fitness: Get your heart pumping and your body moving with a full-body workout that’s as fun as it is beneficial.\nMindfulness: Cultivate mindfulness and mental clarity as you focus on the present moment and the sensations within your body.\nCommunity: Meet like minded people and form connections that last.\n\nHow to Join: \n\nTickets: The tickets are on a sliding scale $10-$20. Purchase by sending e-transfer to carley.schandlen@yahoo.ca or CASH at the door. (there is a limited capacity – pre purchase is advised)\nDress Code: Comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.\nBring: Water bottle\, towel (if you sweat)\, sock feat/ indoor shoes\, and an open mind ready to dance!\nArrival: Please arrive a few minutes early so that we can all start together.\nConsiderations: There will be no talking or phone use permitted in the dance space. Please step outside for these things as to respect the other participants.\nScent Free Space: Please refrain from wearing anything scented in the space.\n\n* DANCING & CONSENT *Enjoy your own personal dance or spark up creative movement with others\, if there is mutual agreement. If you wish to dance with another\, tune into their body language that will clearly give you a ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Respect that a person’s willingness to dance can change from moment to moment. At any time you\, or the person you are dancing with\, may choose to end the encounter by moving away\, or bowing with hands in prayer.\nDon’t miss out on this unique opportunity to dance\, connect\, and elevate your spirit. SUMMARY:The Jenn Russell Quintet LIVE @ The Muse
DESCRIPTION:We’ve got another BIG night of jazz coming up for you at The Muse\, as we get ready to host “The Jenn Russell Quintet”.\nFormed over a decade ago Jenn’s music harkens back to the big band swing era of the 1930s and 1940s with a heavy blues influence. Her inspiration has come from the Glen Miller Big Band and other genres including bluegrass\, New Orleans jazz and Jump blues. Her song writing style is a nod to the chanteuse masters Ella Fitzgerald\, Diana Krall\, Jill Barber\, and Caro Emerald.\nJenn’s tongue and cheek lyrics are filled with romances which sparkle with many clichés and innuendos that are entertaining and toe tapping. If there is a dance floor\, you’ll want to be on it.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/366083636448558/
