SUMMARY:Living Roots- Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic/Zack Ingles/Black Suit Devil
DESCRIPTION:“FOUR!!!”\nWe are back at Par 94 for another year\nBlack Suit Devil 8:30 PM\nZack Ingles 9:30 PM\nDillon Romantic & The Dream Romantic 10:45 PM\n$5 at the door or festival pass\nGet passes here\nhttps://locarius.io/organizations/37\nLiving Roots Music Festival recognizes that it is situated\non unceded\, unsurrendered Wolastoqey Territory\nDillon Ryan & the Dream Romantic are an infectiously talented and refreshingly distinctive new wave band from the East Coast of Canada. The band is authentically breathing new life into the underexplored genres of new wave\, goth and post punk. Their inspiration from the Smiths\, Echo & Bunnymen and the Cure is marvelously palpable in their material yet their work remains completely fresh. Their hauntingly melodic landscapes swallow you into a cinematic gothic universe. It’s soothing yet scary and you just can’t get enough.\nThe perpetually evolving artist shows no signs of slowing down. It is clear he was born to play music and that trajectory has led him down an illustrious path. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. Their music somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time\, it’s a rare and honest dichotomy.\nHailing from the Kennebecasis Valley of New Brunswick\, Canada and with songwriting that draws from both classic folk and modern pop influences\, Zack Ingles soulful story telling has garnered rave reviews from fans and critics across the maritimes. His 2024 release “Weathered Heart” was received with significant accolades across Canada; including regular airplay on CBC Radio 1. Often praised for his unique folk covers of artists like Beyoncé and Harry Styles\, Zack’s playful and lighthearted persona will bring you on a journey of laughter\, foot stompin’ and reflective story-telling.\nHeart & soul. Passion & grit. Freedom of expression & the triumph of the human spirit.\nBlack Suit Devil represents all of these things.\nWith a tongue-in-cheek name meant to pique the curiosity and a tenacious DIY approach\,\nBlack Suit Devil has been spreading inspiration and awareness through music since 2015.\nA Solo project led by Singer/Songwriter Andy Du Rego of Toronto\, Ontario whose style has been likened to that of Ray LaMontagne\, Tom Waits\, and Chris Cornell.\n\nWith his melodic and thought provoking songwriting inspired by the Rock\, Folk\, Blues & Soul\, Country genres\, Andy continues to impress audiences with his signature raspy self-harmonizing dual vocal and passionate presence. Black Suit Devil has toured / Performed all across Canada\, parts of Mexico and has been a part of such festivals as Harvest Jazz & Blues\, Living Roots Music Festival\, Napatak Ramble\, Dog Patch Music Festival\, TD Newmarket Music Festival\, Winterfolk XVII\, ComingHome Festival\, Gussapolooza and the Guinness World Record for Longest Concert by Multiple Artists\, And many more…\nOn occasion Andy is backed by an array of talented musicians such as percussionists\, bassists\, guitarists\, and violinists to bring different dynamics to each performance.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/953605702987289/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- K-Man & The 45's/Monteith/Messe/Red Cardinal
DESCRIPTION:What a stacked bill this is!! We are finally able to bring Montreal Ska outfit K-Man & the 45’s to town\nWith support from some NB greats\nDoors at 8 PM\nRed cardinal at 9 PM\nMesse at 10 PM\nK-Man & the 45’s at 11:00\nMonteith at 12:30\nTickets $10 adv/$15 door/festival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/673/living-roots-k-man-the-45smonteithmesseabsolution-at-broken-record\nFestival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nCall it what you want\, we call it an SKA PARTY! Straight from Montreal\, K-Man & the 45s has been an important member of the ska scene for several years. In 2011\, they released their debut album entitled Got Me Movin’ as well as their first music video for the song The Red Guy Always Win. They then hit the road and played all over Canada. Word spread quickly that as soon as these guys get on stage\, the audience goes crazy! Is it due to the rock sound they inject into their ska? Is it the volume and intensity of the band that takes hold of the crowd? Is it the sense of urgency that emanates from the group? Anyway\, the band gives so much on stage that even the uninitiated ska will be hooked! Often heard on K-Man & the 45s shows: “Wow I didn’t think I’d ever like ska!”\nMESSE is a hard-hitting\, groovy and stoner sound. They combine their visceral riffs and rhythms with the French language and have a particular attraction to the color purple. They put on an energetic show where you can jump\, scream\, sweat and feel young and alive. Wanting to put a firm foot in the industry from the start\, they launched their debut EP “Connemara PL” in May 2021\, a self-produced project in a home studio. Since then\, they have performed on New Brunswick’s underground stages\, played in a few festivals and were also winners of the Gala de la Chanson de Caraquet. In 2024\, MESSE unveils “J’mettrai le feu” an EP of 5 songs\, a more ambitious project with very “in your face” sounds. It’s a big collage of influences where we find ourselves as much in the era of fringes and bell bottoms as that of flannels and capped boots.\nRed Cardinal is an Alternative Rock Band from Saint John\, New Brunswick. Their sweet sounds will leave you nostalgic for the early 2000’s Indie Rock Scene!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/431042382672461/

SUMMARY:Duke & Goldie Live at Holy Whale Beer Hall
DESCRIPTION:70’s inspired folk/roots duo brings their acclaimed live show of new originals and classic covers to the scenic Holy Whale Beer Hall\nShow at 7pm\, tickets available at link below!\nWalking the line between warm folk storytelling and an upbeat mystical country twang are Vancouver-based duo Duke & Goldie. The musical partnership of Jena “Goldie” Gogo and Eric “The Duke” Duquette\, each longtime members of roots rock band Blue Sky Miners\, has produced an exciting new sound said to “revive the charm of the 60’s and 70’s Laurel Canyon music scene”.Their debut self-titled EP\, released May 12th\, 2023 has been met with glowing reviews and called “A masterpiece that skilfully balances folk and country elements while showcasing the duo’s exceptional vocal abilities” by Canadian Beats. On stage the pair weave their cascading vocal harmonies over acoustic guitar-laden arrangements to tell stories that roam from rocky mountain highs to mysterious remote deserts\, while navigating their roles as settlers in this land. At the heart of it all\, Duke & Goldie’s magnetic chemistry on stage is what continues to captivate audiences wherever they go.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/438924551862696/

The musical partnership of Jena “Goldie” Gogo and Eric “The Duke” Duquette\, each longtime members of roots rock band Blue Sky Miners\, has produced an exciting new sound said to “revive the charm of the 60’s and 70’s Laurel Canyon music scene”.\nTheir debut single Courage\, released in February 2023\, has been met with glowing reviews and was promptly featured in Exclaim!’s roundup of the “Best New Canadian Music”. On stage the pair weave their cascading vocal harmonies over acoustic guitar-laden arrangements to tell stories that roam from rocky mountain highs to mysterious remote deserts\, while navigating their roles as settlers in this land. At the heart of it all\, Duke & Goldie’s magnetic chemistry on stage is what continues to captivate audiences wherever they go.\nFredericton singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Blaire Nicolle has become a familiar face on live music stages across New Brunswick\, sharing her own creations as a solo artist\, and lending her musical sensibilities to elevate the songs of others. DESCRIPTION:Doors at 2 PMScreening at 3 PMEntry by donation ($10 suggested) or festival pass\nFollowing the death of her matriarch and beloved grandmother\, The South follows Italian-Canadian recording artist and dancer Andrea Ramolo to the Salento in southern Italy to explore the rich history of its folk music and dance. SUMMARY:Living Roots- Brokeback Mountaineers (NB)/Almyr Jules (ON)/Charlie Weber (ON)
DESCRIPTION:Two touring acts\, and a local what a great way to find some new music\nCharlie Weber at 5 PM\nAlmyr Jules (trio) 6 PM\nBrokeback Mountaineers 7 PM\n$10 at the door/festival pass\nPasses here\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nHAILING FROM THE VIBRANT CITY OF OTTAWA\, LOCATED IN THE HEART OF ONTARIO\, ALMYR JULES EMERGES AS A DYNAMIC AND PROMISING SINGER-SONGWRITER\, RAPIDLY ASCENDING THE LADDER OF RECOGNITION WITHIN HIS LOCAL MUSIC SCENE AND MAKING AN IMPACT ON THE GLOBAL STAGE. BORN DURING THE COLORFUL AND TRANSFORMATIVE ERA OF THE 1990S\, JULES POSSESSES AN UNWAVERING AFFECTION FOR THE SOULFUL SOUNDS OF 90S R&B AND THE INFECTIOUS FUNK MELODIES THAT DOMINATED THE MUSICAL LANDSCAPE OF THE 60S AND 70S. IT IS THIS UNIQUE BLEND OF INFLUENCES THAT FORMS THE VERY ESSENCE OF HIS MUSICAL IDENTITY – A DELIGHTFUL FUSION MARKED BY HIS VELVETY VOICE AND THE HEARTFELT RESONANCE OF HIS MELODIES.\nFor people who’ve met him London Ontario’s Charlie Weber is known for a few things: Emotionally honest lyricism\, being the loudest person in the room\, and never knowing when to leave a party. Since 2013\, Weber’s self-aware songwriting style has allowed him to carve pathways across the country playing upwards of 230 independently booked shows and released 1 LP “Old Habits (2018) with his follow up album “Gold Never Stays” (2023) on the way. Weber has graced festival stages\, dive bars\,living rooms while following in the footsteps of alt-troubadours like John K. Samson\, Tom Petty\, Frank Turner; using earnestness layered with humour to create music that is sincere while never taking himself too seriously. Ostentatious but vulnerable\, callous and compassionate\, Charlie Weber & the Glorious Failures seamlessly pair cynicism with hopefulness through their lens of punk rock laden Americana\, creating high energy rock n roll anthems that will touch your heart.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1454217552153535/

Walls was a showcasing artist at Festival506 in 2022. SUMMARY:Living Roots- Charlie Weber (ON) at Southside Shake
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to be back on the patio this year for the festival with a variety of music.\nMusic at 7 PMEntry by donation\nFor people who’ve met him London Ontario’s Charlie Weber is known for a few things: Emotionally honest lyricism\, being the loudest person in the room\, and never knowing when to leave a party.\nSince 2013\, Weber’s self-aware songwriting style has allowed him to carve pathways across the country playing upwards of 230 independently booked shows. Weber has graced festival stages\, dive bars and living rooms while following in the footsteps of alt-troubadours like John K. Samson\, Tom Petty\, Frank Turner\, Jeff Rosenstock; using earnestness layered with humour to create a musical catalogue that is sincere while never taking himself too seriously. Ostentatious but vulnerable\, callous and compassionate\, Charlie Weber & the Glorious Failures seamlessly pair cynicism with hopefulness through their lens of punk rock laden Americana\, creating high energy rock n roll anthems that will touch your heart.\nIn 2018\, Weber released his first LP “Old Habits” through London Ontario’s indie label Forest City Records. Touring vigorously until being cut off at the knees by the global pandemic. Weber went into hiding from the invisible plague and got down to writing his second LP\, but he knew he would need help when it came time to record. Weber gathered his friends from some of Ontario’s most renowned (and more successful) acts (Pkew Pkew Pkew\, Wolf Saga\, Stuck Out Here\, Averages) and formed the super group now known as The Glorious Failures. Together with their unbreakable bond matched with their combined 100 years of musical know-how the band formed like a mystical ninja robot from a early 90’s Japanese kids program and recorded what will surly go down in the history books as “THE GREATEST INDEPENDENT CANADIAN RECORD OF ALL TIME!”\nCharlie Weber & the Glorious Failure’s sophomore LP “Gold Never Stays” is set for release in Spring of 2023.\nThe albums first single “Sadder/Louder” is out on streaming platforms and accompanied by a music video directed by award winning and acclaimed Canadian videographer Danny Dunlop of Black Wave Productions and can be viewed on Youtube.\nWe could go further into the bands career as professional unicorn wranglers or their stint as volunteer dragon fighters but I think it’s important to stay focused on the music. If you want to know more about their acts of mythical bravery you’ll have to come see them live in a city near you!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/2704138849733509/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- Brent Mason Band/Rick Sparkes & The Enablers at Khrome
DESCRIPTION:These two prolific songwriters will bring their wonderful bands for a full evening of song.\nDoors at 6:30 PMRick Sparkes & the Enablers at 7 PMBrent Mason Band at 8:15 PM\nTickets $10 advanced/$15 at the door/Festival passhttps://locarius.io/…/living-roots-brent-mason-bandrick…\nFestival passeshttps://locarius.io/…/living-roots-music-festival-2024…\nBrent Mason rolled back into Saint John NB in the spring of ‘92\, after several years roaming North America in his best imitation of Jack Kerouac\, riding his thumb and working carnival midways in Canada and the US. With a fistful of songs born out of an ‘On The Road’ ethos\, and a burning desire\, Brent recorded his first ‘singer/songwriter’ album. A true early indie effort\, Head for the High Ground set a long and vital career in motion. Brent performs innovative original music with insightful powerful lyrical content. In Spring 2020\, Brent will release his 11th album\, ‘Fireflies’\, continuing a commitment to honest\, provocative and often beautiful songs that has earned him international respect. He’s been called “the David Adams Richards of New Brunswick songwriters” by Brent Staeben\, Artistic Director of The Harvest Jazz and Blue Festival.Brent has been nominated for and has won several East Coast Music Awards and Music New Brunswick awards including Folk Artist of the Year\, Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. He is also the youngest recipient of the Stompin’ Tom Award for his contributions to Atlantic Canadian music traditions. In winter 2020\, Brent went on his 3rd Home Routes tour in support of his record in British Columbia. It’s a testament to his significant songwriting and storytelling abilities that Brent has been chosen 3 times for this coveted\, juried circuit. Brent has also toured across Canada\, the UK and Beijing.Brent is regularly invited to local stages including Harvest Jazz and Blues\, Stanfest and many other festivals and music events in the region. In his hometown Saint John\, his Wednesday nights are legend\, hosting O’Leary’s Open Mic Night. 25+ years at this regular gig has earned him the moniker “Godfather of the Saint John Music Scene”. He’s co-written several recorded songs with award winning artist\, Jessica Rhaye\, and conducts songwriting workshops in schools throughout the province.Brent is also a published writer and filmmaker whose conceptual mini-series “Grave Concerns” was picked up by CBC and broadcast nationally. These artistic “crop rotation” techniques into other genres finds Brent working on stories and word craft that informs his writing across the board. After 10 albums and thousands of performances\, Brent is a unique performer\, combining humour\, spontaneity and intriguing\, compelling storytelling. Brent’s shows are entertaining and memorable; he takes audiences on a wild ride from tender sweetness and a deft touch with troubled characters\, wry observations on politics\, to spitting anger at the unjust forces that twist our world.\nOriginally from Kennebecasis Valley in New Brunswick\, Canada\, Rick moved to Prince Edward Island in 2003 where he has worked as a writer\, a musician\, and a teacher. Since 2017\, Sparkes has released four full length albums (three as Rick Sparkes + The Enablers and one under the pseudonym Hazen Halls) and one EP\, all of which blend elements of folk rock\, poetry\, and harmony in ways that are both innovative and familiar. As a writer\, his poetry\, creative non-fiction\, and short fiction have received recognition through the Island Literary Awards and the CBC Poetry Prize shortlist. As a songwriter\, Sparkes’ albums have received critical acclaim across Canada and have been nominated for a number of awards including the 2022 Group Recording of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards for his album Pleasure in the Pathless Woods.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/385591784400031/

SUMMARY:Ayahuasca Jungle Ecstatic Dance
DESCRIPTION:Ohmbala Dance brings a night of dancing in reverence with the grandmother vine of Ayahuasca.\nThis will be a unique night as we explore the spiritual culture of Ayahuasca through sounds and music from the jungles of Central and South America. Where medicine songs inspired by Ayahuasca are sung throughout.\nLetting go into the flow of ecstatic movement connects us with the unseen forces of sound where a natural mystic moves through the air. Together we move past judgment\, distraction and repetitive states of mundane life into the ecstatic trance where downloads and heightened waves of thought insight us.\nThe ceremonial container will provide us with the safety to drop into the wisdom in our bodies and connect with latent spectrums of our humanness. As we let go into dance\, the energy moving through brings patterns to the surface to be released and expressed.
