SUMMARY:Living Roots- Free to Grow (Album release)/Black Suit Devil/Noelle Frances/Josh Ritchie
DESCRIPTION:Our festival kick-off show will feature an album release performance by Fredericton’s Free to grow\nBlack Suit Devil at 7 PM\nNoelle Frances at 7:45 PM\nJosh Ritchie at 8:20 PM\nFree to Grow at 9 PM\nAdvanced tickets $10/At the door $15/Free with festival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/661/living-roots-kick-off-show-with-free-to-grow-album-releaseblack-suit-devilnoelle-francesjosh-ritchie\nFestival passes\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nFormed in 2014\, Fredericton’s Free to Grow won the Stingray Rising Star Award at the Fredericton Harvest Festival in 2015. Our songwriter was the recipient of the 2023 JL Music Composer Award. \nThe band has performed at over 40 festivals/events/venues throughout New Brunswick including in Bathurst\, Miramichi\, Moncton\, Sussex\, Gagetown\, Fredericton\, Saint John and Saint Andrews. Our original rock music is heavily influenced by “classic rock” and our songs have charted in the UK\, France\, Germany\, Spain\, South Africa\, Australia and the US and Canada. We have released 3 full length studio albums plus a live album and a fourth studio album is being released on June 5.\nJosh Ritchie is a born performer. Ever since he could stand he’s had a guitar in his hands and songs in his bones. Now a captivating performer\, Ritchie commands the stage with the confidence of a seasoned front man. From the minute the kid walks on stage it’s obvious he was meant to be there\, serving audiences larger-than-life\, stadium-rock energy at every show.\n Ritchie describes himself as an “impressionist singer-songwriter\,” likening the principles of his craft to those of the impressionist painters of the19th century. He doesn’t spoon-feed you a linear story but rather makes an impression of a feeling or a memory\, creating a unique connection with each and every listener. His music is both ambitious\, bold and big enough to fill a whole room but at the same time technical and refined when you take a closer look.\n As a young and ambitious person of colour\, Ritchie quickly became fascinated with the relationship between art and activism. Growing up\, he was influenced by bands and artists that weren’t afraid to make a statement with their art and he strives to do the same himself. In 2021 Ritchie put this into practice releasing a self-titled EP about his experiences growing up BIPOC in rural Ontario.\n His second studio album Love at the End of the World\, which further explored these themes\, had a sold out launch event at Lee’s Palace in Toronto and went on to obtain attention throughout North America through such outlets as The CBC\, Cashbox Radio\, Canadian Beats\, Record World International\, Volatile Weekly and many more.\nNoelle Frances is a folk singer-songwriter\, harmonizer\, creative collaborator currently living in Deshkan Ziibi/ London ON.\nInspired by the storytelling that exists in the diverse genre of folk music Noelle writes in a way that is simple\, honest and quick to connect to. Noelle is a witty and charismatic performer who draws in the audience with her joy. She meshes a lighthearted presence and stage banter with emotionally charged\, uplifting and sometimes haunting songs. Lyrically she taps into the angst and beauty of life. Each song has a soul and largely speaks to the resiliency of human beings.\nNoelle is part of a self managed\, internationally touring band “The Pairs” and also performs as a solo act. Noelle has opened for acts like Irish Mythen\, Kim Churchill\, Kellie Loder\, Jim Bryson\, and The Brown Hawking Stanley Trio. With The Pairs Noelle has had the opportunity to play many iconic folk festivals like Mariposa\, Summerfolk\, Hillside\, Calgary Folk Fest\, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest\, and many more!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1099883661254096/

Hailing from the vibrant city of Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, this female-fronted ensemble has carved their path through the industry with a blend of showmanship\, originality\, and unparalleled musicianship. Their electrifying performances have left audiences in awe across the expanse of Canada\, sharing stages with titans of rock such as Buckcherry\, The Glorious Sons\, and The Headpins.\nTooth & the Fang is the Folk/Rock outlet for Singer/Songwriter Geoff Smith and his revolving door of musicians from New Brunswick\, Canada. Performing both as a lonely troubadour and a thunderous 4 piece band\, Tooth & the Fang has graced the stages of festivals such as Pop Montreal and the Halifax Pop Explosion. Forever weary of being pigeonholed\, they’ve shared the stage with a wide variety of artists\, from chanteuse Julie Doiron to rockers Solids and The Sadies. Spring 2020 will see the release of their 3rd album\, “Songs from the Broadview Wind Tunnel” on Monopolized Records. Self-recorded (with a little help from his friends) in various locations in Saint John’s South End\, “…Broadview Wind Tunnel” is Smith’s most personal album to date. Direct lyricism reveals an intimate portrait of the 21st century songwriter\, while the wide variety of collaborators make this release Tooth & the Fang’s most sonically ambitious.\nHeart & soul. Passion & grit. Freedom of expression & the triumph of the human spirit.\nBlack Suit Devil represents all of these things.\nWith a tongue-in-cheek name meant to pique the curiosity and a tenacious DIY approach\,\nBlack Suit Devil has been spreading inspiration and awareness through music since 2015.\nA Solo project led by Singer/Songwriter Andy Du Rego of Toronto\, Ontario whose style has been likened to that of Ray LaMontagne\, Tom Waits\, and Chris Cornell.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/385042981047824/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- Union Duke/Lynne Hanson at Klub Khrome
DESCRIPTION:Our Double headliner show\, you will not want to miss\nUnion Duke makes their long-awaited return to Fredericton (5 years) and Canada’s Queen of Americana team up for this one time show..\nLynne Hanson at 7 PM\nUnion Duke at 8:15 PM\nTickets: $20 adv/$25 door/festival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/664/living-roots-union-dukelynne-hanson-at-klub-khrome\nPasses here\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nLiving Roots Music Festival recognizes that it is situated\non unceded\, unsurrendered Wolastoqey Territory.\nUnion Duke is two fifths country\, two fifths city\, and one fifth whiskey. They have been described as a raucous collision of alt-rock and twang\, bringing crowds to their feet with songs from the heart. Soaring harmonies\, driving rhythm\, and an infectious enthusiasm have seen these five guys from youth to young manhood and helped carve out a space for themselves in the annals of Canadiana.\nWith three full-length albums\, many singles\, countless festival stages\, thousands of records sold\, and hundreds of thousands of kilometres of road behind them\, the band is excited to be touring new music and winning new fans on their return to the endless highway.\nDuring their latest hiatus due to the Covid years\, Union Duke has been writing furiously and are excited to bring new music to their loyal fans. If you hope to catch them live\, you better get your tickets early\, because these fellas have a knack for selling out shows months in advance. Catch them while you can!\nToo tough for folk and too blues-influenced for country\, Lynne Hanson’s brand of porch music with a little red dirt can turn on a dime from a sunshine\, blue sky ballad to a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next. Her hard living music has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s Queen of Americana.” And while her deep\, bluesy croon has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch\, it’s the poetry of her lyrics that really sets her apart.\nWinner of two Canadian Folk Music Awards\, Hanson is known for her high energy\, roots guitar driven live performances\, whether playing solo or with her band the Good Intentions. She has an uncanny way of connecting with her audience with an authenticity that is as entertaining as it is disarming.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1558672794917395/
