However\, when he crossed the border for a sweltering July date in 1983 at the fabled El Mocambo in Toronto\, a legend was born.\nStevie Ray Vaughn Live at The El Mocambo is a historic set that included scorching originals mixed with covers from blues titans like Buddy Guy\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Lonnie Mack and John Lee Hooker. The night also extended to rock’s lineage by including three Jimi Hendrix covers\, proving that Stevie Ray was part of an exciting new breed\, complete with it’s own set of reference points. As for the performance itself\, it was delivered with a fire and passion that was uniquely Stevie’s and arced from emotionally raw to fiercely powerful.\nOn March 13th\, join us at Dolan’s Pub as our winter blues series continues with a faithful recreation of this legendary live performance\, on its 40th anniversary\, along with a bonus set of SRV favourites. The work was later rearranged for string quartet as a programmatic suite\, and features six “film scenes”: introduction\, the street\, encounter / forgetfulness\, cabaret\, solitude\, and the street again.\nArvo Pärt’s Summa is inspired by Medieval chant and Renaissance polyphony. Summa was originally composed as an a cappella vocal work for four singers. There is a gentle\, jaunty lilt to the rocking two-note motif that pervades the work with Baroque regularity\, and the repetitions give a spiritual mantra-like dimension to the piece.\nMendelssohn’s Quartet Four is full of virtuosic passion\, charming dance movements\, and intimate romantic lyricism. Her songs come from her life stories and experiences.\nMcKayla can hold an audience with her playful banter of wit and humor and her delivery.\nMcKayla has shared the stage with Old Man Ludecke\, Astrid Young and many others. she has performed at festivals like; Harvest Music Festival\, Living Roots Music Festival\, Jazz on Wolastoq and more.\nMcKayla has plans to get her songs recorded in the near future and spread her wings a bit\, playing to some new audiences and looks forward to meeting everyone.\nSinger/songwriter Mack Sommerville plays music inspired by artists such as Van Morrison\, Dave Matthews Band\, and Ben Howard. He began playing live as a teenager in Belleville and Kingston Ontario\, and entered the New Brunswick music scene in 2021. Mack has enjoyed playing venues such as The Oaktree Pub\, the Grimross\, Gridiron and Foghorn breweries\, and continues to bring a unique acoustic sound to local New Brunswick stages.\nAmber Walls is a country artist from Blackville\, New Brunswick. In recent years\, she has honed her passion for singing\, drawing influence from songwriters such as Ashley McBryde\, Taylor Swift\, and HARDY. Carrying with her a style that falls somewhere between new and 90s country\, Walls has been featured on Miramichi Songwriters – a songwriters circle broadcast across Canada on Rogers TV – and at a pre-season NHL game where she was asked to sing the national anthems. Walls also was a showcasing artist at Festival506 in 2022. Amber released her first single “Should Have Listened to Mama” in April 2023\, after being awarded the Artist Development grant from Music New Brunswick and the Government of New Brunswick.
