SUMMARY:Joe Ross

SUMMARY:July 26\, Clinton Charlton / Lester Slade / Josh Hicks at Harmony House SJ
DESCRIPTION:House show in uptown Saint John\, NB. We will have two local singer-songwriters from Saint John performing original acoustic music in the country / folk / bluegrass / indie genres\, and a 3-4 piece bluegrass band\, originally from Moncton\, but now based in Nunavut! (see more below)\nWe are so honoured to feature Clinton Charlton\, known to many in the Saint John music community as the drummer/ in a number of local projects including Jessica Rhaye\, Catherine Kennedy\, and Penny Blacks. He is also a guitarist and songwriter\, electronic music producer\, and this is his own solo work on guitar. He played our HOUSEFEST open mic a few weeks ago for a sneak peak\, and with Penny Blacks\, ands this is his first solo show of his own work here at the HOUSE.\nJosh Hicks is a little newer to the music community\, but a gifted singer-songwriter and is the lead in Partake\, the fairly newly formed local indie rock band (and Harmony House’s house band) Find him on Band camp under Josh Hicks. And his hip hop work under the name Jack Awful. This is his solo work : genre-bending and original. His first solo show at the HOUSE.\nAnd it is with great excitement that we introduce Lester Slade and his band to Harmony House. Lester has been playing country and bluegrass in the Maritimes and in Northern Canada for years\, and has released several videos on youtube and is on the streams\, and there is a great session with he and Gina Burgess on violin out there too. This show will will be a three-four piece with vocals and strings! (and maybe even slide guitar!)\, as they stop by on their way through on tour.\nAs usual\, we ask for donations for the artists only\, and it is Pay What You Can. SUMMARY:Gallery Opening: Selected Works by Shawn Martinson & Sydney Smith + Faster Than Light Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The Charlotte Street Arts Centre’s second exhibition of the summer season brings together a wealth of creative voices to animate both the Charlotte Glencross and Penny galleries. Mixing oil\, acrylic\, ink\, and photography\, this upcoming exhibition series presents work by established and emerging artists from the Greater Fredericton Area\, all making their CSAC debut.\nShawn Martinson is one of the region’s most admired and respected tattoo artists. His work\, proudly worn by hundreds\, combines contemporary themes and imagery with obvious nods to some of modern tattooing’s foundational artists like Bert Grimm and Norman Collins aka Sailor Jerry.\nSelected Works by Shawn Martinson mixes hand painted flash sheets\, woodcuts\, and canvas work with influential elements spanning his 30 year career hidden through many of the pieces.\nSydney Smith is an emerging painter from Fredericton. For his debut exhibition\, Sydney pushed aside all ego and expectation of what it means to be an artist\, choosing to create pieces guided entirely by shape\, colour\, and emotion. Selected Works by Sydney Smith represents an initial first step by an artist committed to exploring meaning and self expression through visual art.\nCSAC’s annual Faster Than Light exhibition brings together a collection of photographs created during a four week program delivered as part of the Centre’s ArtReach programming.\nThrough an ongoing partnership with the Multicultural Association of Fredericton\, with support from the City of Fredericton and Isaac’s Way\, Faster Than Light teaches photography basics to newcomer youth as a way to encourage artistic expression without barriers. This exhibition includes 13 photographs\, each one selected by the individual program participants.\nOpening reception: Thursday August 8\, 5-7 p.m.\nOn display until September 23.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1027739768963634/

DESCRIPTION:Join the Friday-after-work crowd at The Docks for live music at Acoustic Night presented by Fundy Harbour Group\nDILLON RYAN\nThe perpetually evolving artist shows no signs of slowing down. It is clear he was born to play music and that trajectory has led him down an illustrious path. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. Their music somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time\, it’s a rare and honest dichotomy.\nLISTEN: https://dillonryanmusic.bandcamp.com\nZACK INGLES\nFrom the Kennebecasis Valley of New Brunswick\, Canada and with songwriting that draws from both classic folk and modern pop influences\, Zack Ingles soulful story telling has garnered rave reviews from fans and critics across the maritimes. His 2024 sophomore EP “Get Ahead” has received accolades from across Canada; including regular airplay on CBC Radio 1 and Radio 3. SUMMARY:Piano Room Series - Harvest Edition!
DESCRIPTION:About:\nWhen critically-acclaimed Canadian recording artist and versatile singer-songwriter Colin Fowlie arrived on the scene he brought with him a storied past\, unique and compelling compositions in song\, and charismatic vocal stylings. He turned heads with his debut full-length album “Party Music” and has demonstrated tremendous growth and exploration\, making an emphatic statement with his sophomore album “East of Nowhere” in 2021.\nFowlie continues to evolve his craft as not only a singer\, songwriter\, recording artist\, and touring performer but also as a music educator\, mentor\, and content creator. He spends the balance of his time with family or exploring the world on two wheels with the wind in his face.\nThe unique character of his songs fuse elements of folk\, rock\, blues and Americana/Canadiana into a special blend of universally themed storytelling that\, along with his down-to-earth personality\, create magic that audiences adore.\nColin’s discography has garnered radio airplay on campus\, community and commercial radio across Canada and has graced various charts\, both regionally and nationally\, including the #1 position on the national Folk/Roots/Blues chart. He has accrued more than 3 million views on YouTube and received a MusicNB nomination for “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” and “SOCAN Song of the Year” in 2019 an additional “Song of the Year” nomination in 2021\, and a showcase at the 2022 ECMAs. Singing around the campfire was commonplace\, while practicing harmonies and learning his first few chords on guitar. His father recorded several albums throughout his childhood which opened Joel’s eyes to the professional side of music. Creativity is Joel’s driving passion\, whether it’s writing songs\, painting or making films. Currently\, his main musical outlet is singing and writing songs with the band Run The River\, who have been nominated for music New Brunswick’s breakthrough artist of the year in 2021 and music video of the year in 2022.\nhttps://www.runtherivermusic.com/\nKatie Schurman is a 20-year-old Fredericton based singer/songwriter\, originally hailing from Embro\, Ontario.
