SUMMARY:ECSQ play Beethoven & Shostakovich (Fredericton)
DESCRIPTION:The Elm City String Quartet presents two masterworks; one an early turning point\, and the other a maturation of a lifelong journey. Beethoven’s 14th string quartet is one of the famous “late” quartets\, composed when he was nearing the end of his incredible career. The third string quartet of Shostakovich is seen as the composer’s first great success of imbedding his personality into a quartet piece. It is dark and desolate\, sarcastic\, and heart-breakingly intimate. Both these pieces are profound\, artful\, and deeply personal\, and we can’t wait to share them with you.\nDate: December 1\, 7:30PM\nLocation: Wilmot United Church\, 473 King St\, Fredericton\nTickets:\nAdults: $20 | Seniors: $15 | Students: $10 | Sistema Students & Faculty: Free\nhttps://www.tickettailor.com/…/elmcitystringquartet/992852\nProgram:\nString Quartet No. 14 in C♯ minor\, Op. 131\nL. V. Beethoven (1770 – 1872)\nI. Adagio ma non troppo e molto espressivo\nII. Allegro molto vivace\nIII. Allegro moderato – Adagio\nIV. Variations\nV. Presto\nVI. Adagio quasi un poco andante\nVII. Allegro\n– Intermission –\nString Quartet No. 3 in F Major\, Op. 73\nDimitri Shostakovich (1906 – 1975)\nI. Allegretto\nII. Moderato con moto\nIII. Allegro non troppo\nIV. Adagio (attacca)\nV. SUMMARY:Hypochondriacs LIVE Recording
DESCRIPTION:Fredericton’s favourite live band\, The Hypochondriacs\, have set aside two nights in January for a live recording and they are inviting friends and fans to be a part of it.\nJanuary 11 and 12\, 2024\, ‘The Hypos’ will set up in the Charlotte Street Arts Centre to do what they do best: perform for packed and appreciative rooms. However\, making this cabaret-style event unique will be the added excitement of being part of a live recording.\n“It’s about evolution. These songs have evolved. The band has evolved. Things are a lot different now\, from when we started. We want to document that\,” explained band leader Josh Bravener. “I mean\, first off\, we’re not even a country band anymore.”\nSince forming in 2015\, The Hypochondriacs have released two albums of material ranging from country\, 50s doo-wop\, soul\, Americana\, and alternative music\, and their travels have landed them on festival stages throughout North America\, including SXSW (Austin)\, Breakout West (Calgary)\, and of course appearances at The Harvest Music Festival in their beloved hometown of Fredericton. While both records have been met with critical applause\, live shows are a true thrill ride\, converting many fans.\nThe live album is an offering to a fevered fanbase\, waiting patiently for an anticipated third album. It is an attempt to capture the magic of these six tremendously accomplished musicians working together for a greater good\, transforming fan favourites\, and leaving it all on the stage.\n“We simply want to capture the strength and energy of our live performances. The band has a lot to do with this. We want to highlight each of their unique influences\,” added Bravener.\nTickets are limited and are predicted to sell quickly. They are $20 advance\, $25 at the door. VIP bundles are also available for $50 to include show ticket\, VIP seating with table service\, a Hypochondriacs T-shirt\, invite to the Friday night after party and the digital download when available.\nTickets go on sale Monday\, December 11th at 10AM at\nhttps://www.tickettailor.com/events/musicrunsthroughit\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/358996423486483/

SUMMARY:Travis Flynn + Pallmer + Pompey at Shivering Songs 2024
DESCRIPTION:Pallmer + Pompey at Beaverbrook Art Gallery\nDoors 5:30PM / Show 6PM\nAll Ages – FREE\nPallmer is a chamber-pop project born from late night improv sessions during a particularly snowy winter in Fredericton\, New Brunswick. Using a cello and viola\, the band’s music melds their love of songwriting with their classical training\, using loopers and effects to expand the possibilities of their wooden instruments. Pallmer’s most recent release\, “Quiet Clapping” won Recording of the Year at the 2021 Prix MNB Awards. The collection of five songs were recorded in a large dance studio at the back of a church-converted-to-arts centre\, taking advantage of its natural resonance\, and embracing the occasional noises from old water heating. Pallmer released a limited edition\, double-header vinyl run of “Quiet Clapping” & their 2019 release\, “Grass Garden” on April 9th\, 2022.\nPompey’s songwriting is fuelled by an ongoing search for comfort. Sometimes it works but often\, it unearths a hidden\, less comfortable truth that usually ends up being a better song.\nA midwinter celebration of songwriting and storytelling\, and flagship partner of Fredericton FROSTival\, Shivering Songs hosts internationally renowned artists in historic and intimate spaces throughout Downtown Fredericton\, on the unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik people.\n\n———————————————————————-\n\nNotes on Accessibility:\nShivering Songs is actively working to improve festival accessibility We welcome all feedback and encourage you to reach out with any questions\, comments\, or concerns.\nAt this time in all venues we strongly encourage masking and sanitizing.\n\nTicket Refund Policy:\nTicket buyers can request a refund (up to 48 hours before performance) with one exception\, the payment processor will withhold a 10% processing fee. Refunds will be issued to the original method of payment used at time of purchase. If an event is rescheduled or canceled ticket buyers will be notified with options including a refund.\nIf you require a refund option within 48 hours of the event we can offer you credit to a future show.

SUMMARY:ECSQ Play Smith\, Schubert & Wijeratne (Saint John)
DESCRIPTION:Concert 3: ECSQ Play Smith\, Schubert & Wijeratne\nThe ECSQ starts off the new year with some fresh and rocking string quartets. “2 Pop Songs on Antique Poems” by Dinuk Wijerante\, winner of the 2016 JUNO for classical composition of the year\, is a collision of old and new. The beauty and meaning of vintage poems inspire loops\, grooves\, and catchy tunes\, with some recognizable quotes to our concert’s final piece.\n“The day will come when a single\, freshly observed carrot will start a revolution\,” is the inspiration for Gabriella Smith’s captivating work\, Carrot Revolution. The piece travels between flowing fiddle-inspired melodies and crunchy (perhaps like a carrot?) rhythms and percussion. The final piece of the concert\, Schubert’s Death and the Maiden\, is an absolute favourite in the repertoire. Power\, beauty and storytelling are woven with beautifully seamless structure.\nDate: February 1\, 7:30PM\nLocation: Saint John Arts Centre – 20 Peel Plaza\, Saint John\nTickets:\nAdults: $20 | Seniors: $15 | Students: $10 | Sistema Students & Faculty: Free\nAdvance tickets:\nhttps://www.tickettailor.com/events/elmcitystringquartet/997393\nProgram:\n2 Pop Songs on Antique Poems\, by Dinuk Wijeratne (b. 1978)\nI.
