SUMMARY:Theresa Malenfant & Scott Medford in Saint John
DESCRIPTION:ECMA winner Theresa Malenfant and renowned guitarist Scott Medford have become one of the most popular blues duo acts in the Atlantic Provinces. They have been performing together in a band for years\, but decided to work as a duo only 6 years ago. In that short time they managed to win second place in an International Blues Challenge (IBC) held in Memphis Tennessee.\nTheresa and Scott have an intuitive way of working with each other\, and the mutual respect and admiration for the other’s abilities is evident from their stage performance.\nTheresa Malenfant has earned the nickname “Queen Bee of the Blues”. When you hear the first note you’ll know why. And she personally selected Scott Medford to be her guitarist. That speaks volumes about his level of playing.\nAn incredible evening of music you’ll not soon forget!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1546988656122288/

The band has a vast range of influences from pop to blues that contributes to their own unique sound which could be described as retro with a modern generational twist.\nOver the last year The Last Call has had lots of events across New Brunswick\, such as headlining the Saint John Moonlight Bazaar and opening for Classified at the UNB Fredericton Kick Off Concert.\nThe Last Call are currently in the midst of recording and releasing their debut first single which will be available in the near future!\nAbout Austin Eatman\nHailing from the port city of Saint John\, NB\, Canada\, Austin Eatman brings a distinct East Coast Alt-Folk style and melodic sound to his eclectic performances. \nIn 2017\, he recorded a song for every day in January\, culminating in his YouTube series (Song a Day Sessions). \nDedicating his life to this musical endeavour\, he joined with Mike Belyea to form “The Sound Investments”\, a folk duo who still play regularly. \nLater he formed a full band “The Austin Eatman Band”\, releasing their debut EP “Broken Radio” in early 2020. \nUnable to tour the EP\, Austin kept busy\, collaborating with local electronic artist and producer “FWLR”\, releasing songs “Lo-fi Beats To Realize You’re An A**hole To” (With FWLR\, and Colin Ferris of “Sheik”) as well as “Lads Me Boys” under the name Brethren of The Coast (with FWLR and Jamie Comeau) \nHe has gained notoriety performing at Paddlefest in St. Andrew’s\, Follyfest in Gagetown and in 2022\, opening up for Whitehorse at the 506 Container Village. \nCurrently he focuses on recording a new full-length album set to release sometime this year with his band\, and playing as often as he can.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/837979731457833/

SUMMARY:ROSS NEILSEN COMES HOME!! LIVE @ Dolans Pub
DESCRIPTION:Ross Neilsen makes his return to Fredericton for a live show at Dolan’s Pub\, his first in the city since 2022. The evening will take on an extra celebratory feel\, considering the friends\, fans and memories attached to Fredericton for Neilsen\, who is now based in Saskatoon (SK).\nNeilsen is a proven road warrior\, who crossed the country and back many times\, both as a solo artist\, and with his backing band The Sufferin’ Bastards dating back to 2010. Neilsen’s music has not only traveled him all over Canada\, but he’s also taken his distinct ‘finger-style’ of playing to Mexico\, to the fabled blues grounds of the Hill Country region of Mississippi\, the bayous of Louisiana and even to Macon\, Georgia where he was awarded the privilege of playing the holy grail of blues\, rock and soul: Duane Allman’s 1957 Les Paul Gold Top.\nIn 2012 Ross was chosen as a semi-finalist in the solo/duo category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis\, TN and in 2014\, he studied at Camp Copperhead under the tutelage of Steve Earle.\nIn early 2016\, Neilsen returned to the studio to cut his sixth studio album with Juno winning team\, producer Steve Marriner (MonkeyJunk) and ace engineer\, Ken Friesen (Tragically Hip\, Blue Rodeo). Elemental was released in September of 2016 and received much critical appraise and airplay support from all over the world.\nIn more recent years\, Neilsen had paused his career to start a family\, and of course the pandemic played its part too\, but now he is set to rekindle his career\, and a trip home to ‘Freddy Beach’ as the weather starts to warm sounds like a great night out.\nTickets are $20 advance or $25 at the door. Show at 7:30PM.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/6702172696553710/

SUMMARY:***LAST 40 TICKETS*** Daniel Champagne (Australia) LIVE at InterAction School of Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION:The young Australian virtuoso returns to Canada for 56 intimate and one of a kind performances across the country!\nMay 30 – InterAction School of Performing Arts\, Saint John\n228 Germain Street\n7pm doors / 7:30pm show\nTickets (very limited) https://events.humanitix.com/daniel-champagne-australia-live-at-interaction-school-of-performing-arts-or-saint-john?_gl=1*19asdvf*_ga*NTAxODQyNTI0LjE2OTUyMjU3MTI.*_ga_LHKW5FR9N6*MTY5NTczMzAwOS4zLjEuMTY5NTczNTY0NS45LjAuMA..\nBIOGRAPHY\nGrowing up in the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales\, Australia the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12\, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could\, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school\, turned professional and hit the road without looking back.\nThe following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums\, tour relentlessly around the globe\, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel\, INXS\, John Butler\, Lucinda Williams\, Ani DiFranco\, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela.\nHe has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”\, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and from March to June 2024 he will be touring Canada\, from Vancouver Island in the West out to Newfoundland in the east and 56 towns in between!\nWHAT THE PRESS SAY..\n“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills\, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald\, CANADA\n“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in the thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.” The Firefly Column\, USA\n“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues\, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. I firmly believe that he will become an ambassador for roots music in a time where it desperately needs representation.” The Indie Blender\, CANADA\n“reinventing roots guitar” Rhythms Magazine\, AUSTRALIA\n“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” BW Review\, NEW ZEALAND\n“Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage\, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band\, Champagne is just magical” Themusic.com.au\, AUSTRALIA\n“You feel as if he just invented the instrument yesterday and was discovering its possibilities afresh” Ted Gioia (American jazz critic and music historian)\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/157393554096184/

Spring 2020 will see the release of their 3rd album\, “Songs from the Broadview Wind Tunnel” on Monopolized Records. Self-recorded (with a little help from his friends) in various locations in Saint John’s South End\, “…Broadview Wind Tunnel” is Smith’s most personal album to date. Direct lyricism reveals an intimate portrait of the 21st century songwriter\, while the wide variety of collaborators make this release Tooth & the Fang’s most sonically ambitious.\nHeart & soul. Passion & grit. Freedom of expression & the triumph of the human spirit.\nBlack Suit Devil represents all of these things.\nWith a tongue-in-cheek name meant to pique the curiosity and a tenacious DIY approach\,\nBlack Suit Devil has been spreading inspiration and awareness through music since 2015.\nA Solo project led by Singer/Songwriter Andy Du Rego of Toronto\, Ontario whose style has been likened to that of Ray LaMontagne\, Tom Waits\, and Chris Cornell.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/385042981047824/

It’s the place where water\, wind\, land\, people\, and culture all end up together. Think of The Big South like the coastline; a meeting place for musical voyagers. Using traditional East Coast music as a base\, The Big South takes whatever bits of musical driftwood it finds washed up on shore and uses them to build something new. Whether these come from Europe\, America\, or the Caribbean\, The Big South uses these elements to create a sound that is truly unique.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/443293604718856/

SUMMARY:The Jenn Russell Quintet LIVE @ The Muse
DESCRIPTION:We’ve got another BIG night of jazz coming up for you at The Muse\, as we get ready to host “The Jenn Russell Quintet”.\nFormed over a decade ago Jenn’s music harkens back to the big band swing era of the 1930s and 1940s with a heavy blues influence. Her inspiration has come from the Glen Miller Big Band and other genres including bluegrass\, New Orleans jazz and Jump blues. Her song writing style is a nod to the chanteuse masters Ella Fitzgerald\, Diana Krall\, Jill Barber\, and Caro Emerald.\nJenn’s tongue and cheek lyrics are filled with romances which sparkle with many clichés and innuendos that are entertaining and toe tapping. If there is a dance floor\, you’ll want to be on it.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/366083636448558/
