SUMMARY:Eddy Currents LIVE @ Five & Dime
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to have Eddy Currents make his Five & Dime debut on his first-ever Atlantic Canadian tour!\nShow time: 9pm.Cover: PWYC\n—-About Eddy:https://eddycurrents.net/home\nA lifelong musical journey begins when you grow up in a house filled with classical music and the Rolling Stones. Playing an array of instruments from an early age\, a new melody or lyric was always waiting to be scribbled down at a moment’s notice. Several years later and following a decade on the road\, various colorful tales of ordinary lives had been amassed. This epoch would then culminate in the retreat to a Toronto studio where these narratives could be brought to life. Armed with eight tunes surrounded by an air of melancholy\, reflection and hope\, this collection of songs would introduce the original musicality of Eddy Currents to the world.\nInfluenced heavily by the writings of Warren Zevon\, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Peart\, his eponymous debut album was released in 2020. Each of the album’s songs are somewhat reflective of the city in which they were written; from Halifax to Manhattan to Munich. Composed primarily on the piano\, the album weaves between genres throughout. The sounds of Folk\, Celtic\, Rock and Synth-Pop can be found\, where the only constant in the arrangement is the plangent\, lead baritone vocal that narrates these distinctly human accounts.\nThe year 2021 saw the release of two singles\, Crossroad and The Breakline\, both of which continued to build upon the singer-songwriter styling introduced on the debut album and gained him considerable momentum on various Indie Folk playlists. In 2023\, Eddy Currents music was streamed in 140 countries on Spotify alone\, assisted by the release of the first six tracks off of his upcoming album\, Electric Minds. His energetic solo live sets have been engaging audiences all over North America for the past 2 years\, with new dates being consistently added. So\, turn up your amps and stay tuned…\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/966559191732839/

SUMMARY:McKinley\, Morrison & Williams\, with Friends!
DESCRIPTION:Come on out to Haven Music Hall on June 22 to see the amazing McKinley\, Morrison\, & Williams with special guests Catherine Kennedy and Connor Fox!\nAll ages\nDoors 7pm\, show 7:30pm\nAdvance tickets $25+tax\, $30+tax at the door!\nEast Coast musicians Josh McKinley\, John Morrison and Darrell Williams have have made a significant mark on the Canadian East Coast music scene\, performing at festivals\, touring theatres and clubs and by creating their own brand of an intimate show experience. In 2019\, they were awarded Stingray Music Rising Star at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival and Band of the Year at the Saint John Music Awards. In 2023\, MMW released their first studio album titled\, “Sunday Morning Coffee”\, garnished with the extra color of international musicians who have performed with Sting\, The Rolling Stones\, Alicia Keys\, Steve Vai and many others. This exciting instrumental trio delivers melodic musical fusion\, bass solos\, guitar wizardry\, and a drum clinic performance.\n\n\nAward-winning singer-songwriter Catherine Kennedy invites you to join her on the long way home. Any story worth telling deserves the time it takes to travel along the nostalgic route\, and Catherine’s soulful lyrics and bluesy tones will transport you directly there.\n\nIn 2018\, Catherine released her solo EP Fifty-Fifty Chance and toured her music throughout the East Coast at festivals such as Area 506\, Folly Fest\, Paddlefest\, and Shivering Songs. 2022 saw the release of her self-titled debut album for which she\, along with her band\, won Breakthrough Artist of the Year from the Music New Brunswick Awards\, and earned two further nominations for Recording of the Year and Song of the Year.\n\nOne music-lover praised how “the beautiful quality and range of Catherine’s voice pairs perfectly with her gift of storytelling. Catherine’s music makes you feel part of something bigger. Her songs always seem as though they’re written for you.”\nSo come roam along the winding road of your story and join Catherine on the long way home.\n\n\nAs a musician Connor Fox comes armed with a lot of tools in his belt–yes\, he has the ability to shred with the best of them\, but when needed\, he can maturely play in the moment too\, giving whatever is required of him.\nHis seasoned tastes and sense of subtlety betray someone of only 23 years of age\, but Connor comes across as wise\, both in his demeanor and his guitar playing\, which he has been doing since he was old enough to hold one. Stylistically\, whether it’s capturing the fire and passion of a Stevie Ray Vaughan solo or the nuanced\, creative impulses of Jerry Garcia\, his two primary influences\, Connor is a force.\n—\nAccessibility\nHaven Music Hall is a street-level small music venue without fixed seating. This show is combination standing and seating room only. Our entrance exterior is a 34″ wide door that has a small lip/step up from the street. Once inside\, our entrance vestibule has three steps up into the space with an interior entrance opening of 70″. We have two single-use washrooms with toilets. Their unique instrumentation of two woodwinds\, bass\, and drums\, allows them to explore sonic landscapes that allude to harmony without being restricted by it. Original compositions by each band member showcase their diverse sets of influences\, including jazz\, avant-garde\, and folk music.\nTom McAvity has ben writing and performing original music in the genres of folk\,\nblues\, country and jazz in Fredericton and surrounding areas since the mid 1970’s.\nHe has been a regular at the Harvest Jazz and Blues festival over the years\, and\nhas two albums available on Bandcamp\, with a third currently in production\n(tommcavity.bandcamp.com).\nTayce McAvity began playing classical guitar at a young age\, and eventually\nswitched to bass for his father’s blues band “Big Giant Heads”. He has been\nplaying bass for his father\, and various other bands around the Maritimes since\nthe 1990’s\, and is currently the bassist for the popular local band “Pretty in Pink”\,\nas well as several other bands from Fredericton and outlying communities\nincluding his father’s current band “Buskeroo Banzai”.\nMike Kelly has been in the Canadian Music scene for over 40 years.\nPlaying drums from a very early age\, Mike grew up with strong Calypso\,\nJazz and Pop influence. “Groove” was all important! If not involved in\noriginal music production\, he won’t be far from the recording desk in search\nof the ideal drum sound.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/973365557395993/

SUMMARY:RJ Chesney @Char & Chowder - St. Andrew's
DESCRIPTION:RJ Chesney has deep roots in the American South\, having grown up in\nMacon\, Georgia and Biloxi Mississippi. His voice is deep and sonorous\nwith a twang. Folk \, blues\, country\, and gospel breathe in and inspire\nhis songs. RJ evokes Hank Williams Sr. meets John Prine with a little\nTownes Van Zandt thrown in.\nRJ has toured America and Europe and has earned a very loyal following.\nThis year alone RJ toured Norway ( for a 4th time ) and England ( for a second time) and most recently toured the big island of Hawaii in April of 2024.\nRJ is very excited to make his first tour to Canada \, a place that spawned so many of his singer songwriter influence \, especially Leonard Cohen .\nRJ’s second album\, Angels\nFalling\, was released in 2015 to rave reviews. including this quote\nby Terry Roland in No Depression magazine – ” If these songs were\npaintings\, they would be Andrew Wyeth’s starkly beautiful American\nlandscape work. These songs are landscapes of the soul.” …\nIn 2019\nRJ released his third album\, Amateur Revolution\, a collaboration with\nnotable Norwegian Producer-Composer HP Gunderesen and Los Angeles\nProducer Jason Hiller. Amateur Revolution features great musicians\nfrom both the Los Angeles\, California and Bergen\, Norway music\nscenes. The album was widely praised in the USA and throughout Europe\n. . Including\nPaul Kerr from AmericanaUK – ‘Amateur Revolution’ is not\ngoing to be the most polished album to grace the decks this month.\nIt’s all the better for that as the loose-limbed feel here runs\nthroughout the 12 songs gathered\, the sort of feel that one associates\nwith The Basement Tapes or Doug Sahm\, just a bunch of musicians having\nsome great fun performing some great songs\nand\nPaul Jackson – Fatea\nRecords UK- “Country music is a very broad church these days\,\nparticularly when you think of acts like Chris Stapleton and Sturgill\nSimpson\, so it’s great to get others coming along to push the\nboundaries further.\nSolid songs\, great performances from the band and crisp production\nmake Amateur Revolution a fine record indeed.”\nand from Music Morsels –\n“I have often wondered what Hank Williams Sr’s songs would have\nsounded like if he were alive today. L.A. (by way of Macon and Biloxi)\nsongsmith RJ Chesney channels those types of roots with his latest\nrelease. Vocally\, it has a bit less twang and more grit than Hank\, and\nthe songs \,while strongly retro\, have an earthy depth to them giving\nthem a subtle modern kick. The lyrics tend to be introspective and\noccasionally dark with a touch of humor in the right places. With\nexcellent production from highly-regarded Norwegian producer H.P.\nGunderson\, this music just feels like it came from the formative years\nof country and that is a very good thing these days.”\nIf you love true roots music\, that stirs your soul deep inside\, you’ll\nbe a fan of RJ too!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/513852744548849/

SUMMARY:RJ Chesney @ Sussex Ale Works - Sussex \, NB
DESCRIPTION:RJ Chesney has deep roots in the American South\, having grown up in\nMacon\, Georgia and Biloxi Mississippi. His voice is deep and sonorous\nwith a twang. Folk \, blues\, country\, and gospel breathe in and inspire\nhis songs. RJ evokes Hank Williams Sr. meets John Prine with a little\nTownes Van Zandt thrown in.\nRJ has toured America and Europe and has earned a very loyal following.\nThis year alone RJ toured Norway ( for a 4th time ) and England ( for a second time) and most recently toured the big island of Hawaii in April of 2024.\nRJ is very excited to tour to Canada for the first time \, a place that spawned so many of his singer songwriter influences \, especially Leonard Cohen .\nRJ’s second album\, Angels\nFalling\, was released in 2015 to rave reviews. including this quote\nby Terry Roland in No Depression magazine – ” If these songs were\npaintings\, they would be Andrew Wyeth’s starkly beautiful American\nlandscape work. The album was widely praised in the USA and throughout Europe\n. . SUMMARY:AREA 506 ACOUSTIC NIGHT | feat. Dillon Ryan\, Zack Ingles\, Hannah Freeze
DESCRIPTION:Join the Friday-after-work crowd at The Docks for live music at Acoustic Night presented by Fundy Harbour Group\nDILLON RYAN\nThe perpetually evolving artist shows no signs of slowing down. It is clear he was born to play music and that trajectory has led him down an illustrious path. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. Their music somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time\, it’s a rare and honest dichotomy.\nLISTEN: https://dillonryanmusic.bandcamp.com\nZACK INGLES\nFrom the Kennebecasis Valley of New Brunswick\, Canada and with songwriting that draws from both classic folk and modern pop influences\, Zack Ingles soulful story telling has garnered rave reviews from fans and critics across the maritimes.
