SUMMARY:Boy Golden with guests Fontine Live at Xeroz Arcade/Bar
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday May 14th – Doors at 7pm – Show 8pm – Tickets: $20 +Tax/Fees\nBoy Golden:\nEverything becomes fluid when you can pass through time and space like a ghost\, a story\, a melody. Boy Golden manifests all three on For Jimmy.\nWhen listening to his music\, it feels easy to dissolve into the ether. Everything flows. From classic country to psych-folk\, Alternative to roadhouse pop to Appalaichan bluegrass\, Boy Golden’s music is easy\, breezy\, warm and gritty. And don’t it just feel good to listen to it.\nSince releasing his debut album\, Church of Better Daze\, in 2021\, he’s played every summer festival on your list\, produced X albums with friends\, released a dozen videos\, curated and directed an art show and music video for “KD & Lunchmeat”\, the Seth-Rogenesque hit single that charted to #1 on Alternative Radio\, and toured more than 60 venues across North America with The Sheepdogs.\nIntrospective and vulnerable\, traditional and queer\, hard-headed and sensual\, Boy Golden’s everyman-aesthetic can appeal to all of us. This ability lies in his songwriting: the songs your friends tell you about\, the stories you hear from your neighbours\, your community. He’s comfortable both in the spotlight and just outside it\, sharing the moments with other artists\, lifting others up along with him. He’s a genuine student of Townes Van Zandt and Willie Nelson as much as Dwight Yoakam and Stevie Ray Vaughan . Plus his C.O.B.D philosophy\, “You can blaze and still get paid” might help us all to blur borders and old definitions of genres we thought we knew\, like Steve Lacy or Justin Vernon do for Pop music.\nBoy Golden is able to maintain his own unique blend of Boy Golden using whatever frame of mind he’s in to fit us into this time. We’re here right now\nFontine:\nA hush sweeps across Turtle Island. Birds flock to perch on towering maples and the waving prairie grasses still. There is a name upon the tongue of every creature from the elk to the shrew. FONTINE. A gust of wind blows open the shutters of every home and young and old kneel in reverence to the dawn of a new era. FONTINE. Queen of the road\, King of the song\, FONTINE is here with a brand new EP.\nCo-produced with Kris Ulrich and mixed by Boy Golden\, the Yarrow Lover EP is set to be released in 2023. Taking inspiration from her Nehiyaw Iskwew roots\, the natural surroundings of her prairie home\, and her musical surroundings in Winnipeg\, the EP presents as a beautiful introduction to a powerhouse songwriter and vocalist.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1086090616000894/

SUMMARY:***LAST 40 TICKETS*** Daniel Champagne (Australia) LIVE at InterAction School of Performing Arts
DESCRIPTION:The young Australian virtuoso returns to Canada for 56 intimate and one of a kind performances across the country!\nMay 30 – InterAction School of Performing Arts\, Saint John\n228 Germain Street\n7pm doors / 7:30pm show\nTickets (very limited) https://events.humanitix.com/daniel-champagne-australia-live-at-interaction-school-of-performing-arts-or-saint-john?_gl=1*19asdvf*_ga*NTAxODQyNTI0LjE2OTUyMjU3MTI.*_ga_LHKW5FR9N6*MTY5NTczMzAwOS4zLjEuMTY5NTczNTY0NS45LjAuMA..\nBIOGRAPHY\nGrowing up in the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales\, Australia the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12\, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could\, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school\, turned professional and hit the road without looking back.\nThe following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums\, tour relentlessly around the globe\, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel\, INXS\, John Butler\, Lucinda Williams\, Ani DiFranco\, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela.\nHe has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”\, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and from March to June 2024 he will be touring Canada\, from Vancouver Island in the West out to Newfoundland in the east and 56 towns in between!\nWHAT THE PRESS SAY..\n“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills\, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald\, CANADA\n“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in the thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.” The Firefly Column\, USA\n“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues\, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. Hailing from the vibrant city of Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, this female-fronted ensemble has carved their path through the industry with a blend of showmanship\, originality\, and unparalleled musicianship. Their electrifying performances have left audiences in awe across the expanse of Canada\, sharing stages with titans of rock such as Buckcherry\, The Glorious Sons\, and The Headpins.\nTooth & the Fang is the Folk/Rock outlet for Singer/Songwriter Geoff Smith and his revolving door of musicians from New Brunswick\, Canada. Performing both as a lonely troubadour and a thunderous 4 piece band\, Tooth & the Fang has graced the stages of festivals such as Pop Montreal and the Halifax Pop Explosion. Forever weary of being pigeonholed\, they’ve shared the stage with a wide variety of artists\, from chanteuse Julie Doiron to rockers Solids and The Sadies. Spring 2020 will see the release of their 3rd album\, “Songs from the Broadview Wind Tunnel” on Monopolized Records. Self-recorded (with a little help from his friends) in various locations in Saint John’s South End\, “…Broadview Wind Tunnel” is Smith’s most personal album to date. Direct lyricism reveals an intimate portrait of the 21st century songwriter\, while the wide variety of collaborators make this release Tooth & the Fang’s most sonically ambitious.\nHeart & soul. Passion & grit. Freedom of expression & the triumph of the human spirit.\nBlack Suit Devil represents all of these things.\nWith a tongue-in-cheek name meant to pique the curiosity and a tenacious DIY approach\,\nBlack Suit Devil has been spreading inspiration and awareness through music since 2015.\nA Solo project led by Singer/Songwriter Andy Du Rego of Toronto\, Ontario whose style has been likened to that of Ray LaMontagne\, Tom Waits\, and Chris Cornell.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/385042981047824/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- Union Duke/Lynne Hanson at Klub Khrome
DESCRIPTION:Our Double headliner show\, you will not want to miss\nUnion Duke makes their long-awaited return to Fredericton (5 years) and Canada’s Queen of Americana team up for this one time show..\nLynne Hanson at 7 PM\nUnion Duke at 8:15 PM\nTickets: $20 adv/$25 door/festival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/664/living-roots-union-dukelynne-hanson-at-klub-khrome\nPasses here\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nLiving Roots Music Festival recognizes that it is situated\non unceded\, unsurrendered Wolastoqey Territory.\nUnion Duke is two fifths country\, two fifths city\, and one fifth whiskey. They have been described as a raucous collision of alt-rock and twang\, bringing crowds to their feet with songs from the heart. Soaring harmonies\, driving rhythm\, and an infectious enthusiasm have seen these five guys from youth to young manhood and helped carve out a space for themselves in the annals of Canadiana.\nWith three full-length albums\, many singles\, countless festival stages\, thousands of records sold\, and hundreds of thousands of kilometres of road behind them\, the band is excited to be touring new music and winning new fans on their return to the endless highway.\nDuring their latest hiatus due to the Covid years\, Union Duke has been writing furiously and are excited to bring new music to their loyal fans. If you hope to catch them live\, you better get your tickets early\, because these fellas have a knack for selling out shows months in advance. Catch them while you can!\nToo tough for folk and too blues-influenced for country\, Lynne Hanson’s brand of porch music with a little red dirt can turn on a dime from a sunshine\, blue sky ballad to a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next. Her hard living music has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s Queen of Americana.” And while her deep\, bluesy croon has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch\, it’s the poetry of her lyrics that really sets her apart.\nWinner of two Canadian Folk Music Awards\, Hanson is known for her high energy\, roots guitar driven live performances\, whether playing solo or with her band the Good Intentions. She has an uncanny way of connecting with her audience with an authenticity that is as entertaining as it is disarming.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1558672794917395/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic/Zack Ingles/Black Suit Devil
DESCRIPTION:“FOUR!!!”\nWe are back at Par 94 for another year\nBlack Suit Devil 8:30 PM\nZack Ingles 9:30 PM\nDillon Romantic & The Dream Romantic 10:45 PM\n$5 at the door or festival pass\nGet passes here\nhttps://locarius.io/organizations/37\nLiving Roots Music Festival recognizes that it is situated\non unceded\, unsurrendered Wolastoqey Territory\nDillon Ryan & the Dream Romantic are an infectiously talented and refreshingly distinctive new wave band from the East Coast of Canada. The band is authentically breathing new life into the underexplored genres of new wave\, goth and post punk. Their inspiration from the Smiths\, Echo & Bunnymen and the Cure is marvelously palpable in their material yet their work remains completely fresh. Their hauntingly melodic landscapes swallow you into a cinematic gothic universe. It’s soothing yet scary and you just can’t get enough.\nThe perpetually evolving artist shows no signs of slowing down. It is clear he was born to play music and that trajectory has led him down an illustrious path. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. SUMMARY:Living Roots- Brent Mason Band/Rick Sparkes & The Enablers at Khrome
DESCRIPTION:These two prolific songwriters will bring their wonderful bands for a full evening of song.\nDoors at 6:30 PMRick Sparkes & the Enablers at 7 PMBrent Mason Band at 8:15 PM\nTickets $10 advanced/$15 at the door/Festival passhttps://locarius.io/…/living-roots-brent-mason-bandrick…\nFestival passeshttps://locarius.io/…/living-roots-music-festival-2024…\nBrent Mason rolled back into Saint John NB in the spring of ‘92\, after several years roaming North America in his best imitation of Jack Kerouac\, riding his thumb and working carnival midways in Canada and the US. With a fistful of songs born out of an ‘On The Road’ ethos\, and a burning desire\, Brent recorded his first ‘singer/songwriter’ album. A true early indie effort\, Head for the High Ground set a long and vital career in motion. Brent performs innovative original music with insightful powerful lyrical content. In Spring 2020\, Brent will release his 11th album\, ‘Fireflies’\, continuing a commitment to honest\, provocative and often beautiful songs that has earned him international respect. He’s been called “the David Adams Richards of New Brunswick songwriters” by Brent Staeben\, Artistic Director of The Harvest Jazz and Blue Festival.Brent has been nominated for and has won several East Coast Music Awards and Music New Brunswick awards including Folk Artist of the Year\, Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. He is also the youngest recipient of the Stompin’ Tom Award for his contributions to Atlantic Canadian music traditions. In winter 2020\, Brent went on his 3rd Home Routes tour in support of his record in British Columbia. It’s a testament to his significant songwriting and storytelling abilities that Brent has been chosen 3 times for this coveted\, juried circuit. Brent has also toured across Canada\, the UK and Beijing.Brent is regularly invited to local stages including Harvest Jazz and Blues\, Stanfest and many other festivals and music events in the region. In his hometown Saint John\, his Wednesday nights are legend\, hosting O’Leary’s Open Mic Night. 25+ years at this regular gig has earned him the moniker “Godfather of the Saint John Music Scene”. He’s co-written several recorded songs with award winning artist\, Jessica Rhaye\, and conducts songwriting workshops in schools throughout the province.Brent is also a published writer and filmmaker whose conceptual mini-series “Grave Concerns” was picked up by CBC and broadcast nationally. These artistic “crop rotation” techniques into other genres finds Brent working on stories and word craft that informs his writing across the board. After 10 albums and thousands of performances\, Brent is a unique performer\, combining humour\, spontaneity and intriguing\, compelling storytelling. Brent’s shows are entertaining and memorable; he takes audiences on a wild ride from tender sweetness and a deft touch with troubled characters\, wry observations on politics\, to spitting anger at the unjust forces that twist our world.\nOriginally from Kennebecasis Valley in New Brunswick\, Canada\, Rick moved to Prince Edward Island in 2003 where he has worked as a writer\, a musician\, and a teacher. Since 2017\, Sparkes has released four full length albums (three as Rick Sparkes + The Enablers and one under the pseudonym Hazen Halls) and one EP\, all of which blend elements of folk rock\, poetry\, and harmony in ways that are both innovative and familiar. As a writer\, his poetry\, creative non-fiction\, and short fiction have received recognition through the Island Literary Awards and the CBC Poetry Prize shortlist. As a songwriter\, Sparkes’ albums have received critical acclaim across Canada and have been nominated for a number of awards including the 2022 Group Recording of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards for his album Pleasure in the Pathless Woods.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/385591784400031/

SUMMARY:Are we there yet? Tour- Bryce Clifford & Brother Brisco
DESCRIPTION:These two buddies are teaming up again to impose their songs on the East coast\, get out and show them our hospitality. Buy em a drink would ya?\nMusic at 8 PM\ntips accepted (Gas is expensive out here)\n‘Bryce Clifford & Brother Superior’ put the song back at the centre of rock n roll. With a decade of playing music in Austin Texas\, dubbed the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’\, Clifford’s ‘indie-rock’ background broadened to include deeper traditions of folk\, blue-grass\, honky-tonk\, old school soul … name it – you might hear it. That said\, a Bryce Clifford & Brother Superior set is dominated with driving melodic rock songs that get stuck in your head\, are played with joy\, and have a touch of nostalgia that feels right and hits home.\nBryce returned to Canada in 2021 and started a northern chapter of ‘Brother Superior’ in Hamilton Ontario\, enlisting four of the city’s most seasoned players: Andrew Marshall (bass)\, Robin Pirson (drums)\, Greg Brisco (piano) and (CJ Altmann) pedal-steel.\nThe group began a weekly residency following lockdowns and are currently building a loyal local following\, as well as honing a well-greased and high-energy live show.\nA little bit about Brisco:\nGreg Brisco was born in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. However\, he has called Hamilton home for the past three decades. He’s been actively playing in the city of Hamilton for the past 20 years. You may have seen him over the years play with many local acts like Ginger St. James\, The Dinner Belles\, Junkhouse\, Teenage Head and Tongue Fu and many that have just been passing through the city like Robert Gordon\, Albert Bouchard (of Blue Oyster Cult) and Peter Stroud (of Sheryl Crow) to name a few.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/446438884527193/
