SUMMARY:Living Roots- Duke & Goldie/Blaire Nicolle at Hanson Road
DESCRIPTION:An afternoon delight in the flower shopAll ages welcome\, bring your coffee and enjoy some world class music.\nBlaire Nicolle at 1 PMDuke & Goldie at 2 PM\nEntry by donation (suggested $10) or festival pass\nPasses here:https://locarius.io/…/living-roots-music-festival-2024…\nLiving Roots Music Festival recognizes that it is situatedon unceded\, unsurrendered Wolastoqey Territory.\nWalking the line between warm folk storytelling and an upbeat mystical country twang are Vancouver-based duo Duke & Goldie. The musical partnership of Jena “Goldie” Gogo and Eric “The Duke” Duquette\, each longtime members of roots rock band Blue Sky Miners\, has produced an exciting new sound said to “revive the charm of the 60’s and 70’s Laurel Canyon music scene”.\nTheir debut single Courage\, released in February 2023\, has been met with glowing reviews and was promptly featured in Exclaim!’s roundup of the “Best New Canadian Music”. On stage the pair weave their cascading vocal harmonies over acoustic guitar-laden arrangements to tell stories that roam from rocky mountain highs to mysterious remote deserts\, while navigating their roles as settlers in this land. At the heart of it all\, Duke & Goldie’s magnetic chemistry on stage is what continues to captivate audiences wherever they go.\nFredericton singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Blaire Nicolle has become a familiar face on live music stages across New Brunswick\, sharing her own creations as a solo artist\, and lending her musical sensibilities to elevate the songs of others. With a clear voice and a wry wit\, Blaire draws inspiration from real-life circumstances to give her audiences stunning poetic soundscapes that hit at the heart of the human condition.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1071747833892622/

SUMMARY:The Jenn Russell Quintet LIVE @ The Muse
DESCRIPTION:We’ve got another BIG night of jazz coming up for you at The Muse\, as we get ready to host “The Jenn Russell Quintet”.\nFormed over a decade ago Jenn’s music harkens back to the big band swing era of the 1930s and 1940s with a heavy blues influence. Her inspiration has come from the Glen Miller Big Band and other genres including bluegrass\, New Orleans jazz and Jump blues. Her song writing style is a nod to the chanteuse masters Ella Fitzgerald\, Diana Krall\, Jill Barber\, and Caro Emerald.\nJenn’s tongue and cheek lyrics are filled with romances which sparkle with many clichés and innuendos that are entertaining and toe tapping. If there is a dance floor\, you’ll want to be on it.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/366083636448558/

SUMMARY:Are we there yet? Tour- Bryce Clifford & Brother Brisco
DESCRIPTION:These two buddies are teaming up again to impose their songs on the East coast\, get out and show them our hospitality. Buy em a drink would ya?\nMusic at 8 PM\ntips accepted (Gas is expensive out here)\n‘Bryce Clifford & Brother Superior’ put the song back at the centre of rock n roll. With a decade of playing music in Austin Texas\, dubbed the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’\, Clifford’s ‘indie-rock’ background broadened to include deeper traditions of folk\, blue-grass\, honky-tonk\, old school soul … name it – you might hear it. That said\, a Bryce Clifford & Brother Superior set is dominated with driving melodic rock songs that get stuck in your head\, are played with joy\, and have a touch of nostalgia that feels right and hits home.\nBryce returned to Canada in 2021 and started a northern chapter of ‘Brother Superior’ in Hamilton Ontario\, enlisting four of the city’s most seasoned players: Andrew Marshall (bass)\, Robin Pirson (drums)\, Greg Brisco (piano) and (CJ Altmann) pedal-steel.\nThe group began a weekly residency following lockdowns and are currently building a loyal local following\, as well as honing a well-greased and high-energy live show.\nA little bit about Brisco:\nGreg Brisco was born in the heart of the Ottawa Valley. However\, he has called Hamilton home for the past three decades. He’s been actively playing in the city of Hamilton for the past 20 years. You may have seen him over the years play with many local acts like Ginger St. James\, The Dinner Belles\, Junkhouse\, Teenage Head and Tongue Fu and many that have just been passing through the city like Robert Gordon\, Albert Bouchard (of Blue Oyster Cult) and Peter Stroud (of Sheryl Crow) to name a few.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/446438884527193/

SUMMARY:Chickahominy Mountain Band @ Hampton Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Chickahominy Mountain Band is a boot stompin’\, storytellin’\, funny bone ticklin’ group of musicians hailing from parts all over NB and beyond. With ranging influences from the funky sounds of Stanley\, the smooth clean rock sensibilities from Norton\, the bluegrass madness from Sussex\, the ragtime groove from a little place called Tarrana and last but not least the gritty blues emanating from the Musquash marsh.\nWe have been working hard on our debut album at Outsider’s Studio in Saint Andrews and have come away with 10 songs telling stories about small town New Brunswick life; from Grand Manan all the way to Oromocto Lake. We are totally self funding the album and have played shows in Saint Andrews\, Saint John and Fredericton so far to pay for the studio time and now we need to raise the funds to get the mixing\, mastering and finally pressing onto vinyl!\nWe are very much looking forward to our first show at Hampton Brewing Co and hope you will come out to support independent\, homegrown music from NB!\nThis is an outdoor event\, please dress for the weather.\nTickets are non-refundable.\nDoors: 7:15 PM\nShowtime: 8:00PM\n*NEW THIS SEASON*\nWe are partnering with Maritime-based company\, Locarius\, for ticket sales. Their unique instrumentation of two woodwinds\, bass\, and drums\, allows them to explore sonic landscapes that allude to harmony without being restricted by it. Original compositions by each band member showcase their diverse sets of influences\, including jazz\, avant-garde\, and folk music.\nTom McAvity has ben writing and performing original music in the genres of folk\,\nblues\, country and jazz in Fredericton and surrounding areas since the mid 1970’s.\nHe has been a regular at the Harvest Jazz and Blues festival over the years\, and\nhas two albums available on Bandcamp\, with a third currently in production\n(tommcavity.bandcamp.com).\nTayce McAvity began playing classical guitar at a young age\, and eventually\nswitched to bass for his father’s blues band “Big Giant Heads”. He has been\nplaying bass for his father\, and various other bands around the Maritimes since\nthe 1990’s\, and is currently the bassist for the popular local band “Pretty in Pink”\,\nas well as several other bands from Fredericton and outlying communities\nincluding his father’s current band “Buskeroo Banzai”.\nMike Kelly has been in the Canadian Music scene for over 40 years.\nPlaying drums from a very early age\, Mike grew up with strong Calypso\,\nJazz and Pop influence. “Groove” was all important! If not involved in\noriginal music production\, he won’t be far from the recording desk in search\nof the ideal drum sound.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/973365557395993/

SUMMARY:RJ Chesney @Char & Chowder - St. Andrew's
DESCRIPTION:RJ Chesney has deep roots in the American South\, having grown up in\nMacon\, Georgia and Biloxi Mississippi. His voice is deep and sonorous\nwith a twang. Folk \, blues\, country\, and gospel breathe in and inspire\nhis songs. RJ evokes Hank Williams Sr. meets John Prine with a little\nTownes Van Zandt thrown in.\nRJ has toured America and Europe and has earned a very loyal following.\nThis year alone RJ toured Norway ( for a 4th time ) and England ( for a second time) and most recently toured the big island of Hawaii in April of 2024.\nRJ is very excited to make his first tour to Canada \, a place that spawned so many of his singer songwriter influence \, especially Leonard Cohen .\nRJ’s second album\, Angels\nFalling\, was released in 2015 to rave reviews. including this quote\nby Terry Roland in No Depression magazine – ” If these songs were\npaintings\, they would be Andrew Wyeth’s starkly beautiful American\nlandscape work. These songs are landscapes of the soul.” …\nIn 2019\nRJ released his third album\, Amateur Revolution\, a collaboration with\nnotable Norwegian Producer-Composer HP Gunderesen and Los Angeles\nProducer Jason Hiller. Amateur Revolution features great musicians\nfrom both the Los Angeles\, California and Bergen\, Norway music\nscenes. The album was widely praised in the USA and throughout Europe\n. . Including\nPaul Kerr from AmericanaUK – ‘Amateur Revolution’ is not\ngoing to be the most polished album to grace the decks this month.\nIt’s all the better for that as the loose-limbed feel here runs\nthroughout the 12 songs gathered\, the sort of feel that one associates\nwith The Basement Tapes or Doug Sahm\, just a bunch of musicians having\nsome great fun performing some great songs\nand\nPaul Jackson – Fatea\nRecords UK- “Country music is a very broad church these days\,\nparticularly when you think of acts like Chris Stapleton and Sturgill\nSimpson\, so it’s great to get others coming along to push the\nboundaries further.\nSolid songs\, great performances from the band and crisp production\nmake Amateur Revolution a fine record indeed.”\nand from Music Morsels –\n“I have often wondered what Hank Williams Sr’s songs would have\nsounded like if he were alive today. L.A. (by way of Macon and Biloxi)\nsongsmith RJ Chesney channels those types of roots with his latest\nrelease. Vocally\, it has a bit less twang and more grit than Hank\, and\nthe songs \,while strongly retro\, have an earthy depth to them giving\nthem a subtle modern kick. The lyrics tend to be introspective and\noccasionally dark with a touch of humor in the right places. With\nexcellent production from highly-regarded Norwegian producer H.P.\nGunderson\, this music just feels like it came from the formative years\nof country and that is a very good thing these days.”\nIf you love true roots music\, that stirs your soul deep inside\, you’ll\nbe a fan of RJ too!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/513852744548849/

He played our HOUSEFEST open mic a few weeks ago for a sneak peak\, and with Penny Blacks\, ands this is his first solo show of his own work here at the HOUSE.\nJosh Hicks is a little newer to the music community\, but a gifted singer-songwriter and is the lead in Partake\, the fairly newly formed local indie rock band (and Harmony House’s house band) Find him on Band camp under Josh Hicks. And his hip hop work under the name Jack Awful. This is his solo work : genre-bending and original. His first solo show at the HOUSE.\nAnd it is with great excitement that we introduce Lester Slade and his band to Harmony House. Lester has been playing country and bluegrass in the Maritimes and in Northern Canada for years\, and has released several videos on youtube and is on the streams\, and there is a great session with he and Gina Burgess on violin out there too. This show will will be a three-four piece with vocals and strings! (and maybe even slide guitar!)\, as they stop by on their way through on tour.\nAs usual\, we ask for donations for the artists only\, and it is Pay What You Can. BYOB\, SCENT-FREE\, and a SAFE SPACE. Even if you can’t afford much\, stop by and join us for the show! SUMMARY:Veranda - Live at The Cottage
DESCRIPTION:Veranda July 28 – 7pm doors 6:30\nBack for a record 3rd time!\n$25 by etransfer to davejaglove@gmail.com\nBYOB\nPlaying as a 4 piece they are a bilingual string band\nThe duo originally met at Barfly\, a cozy watering hole regarded as a Montreal Bluegrass institution. They quickly became friends\, then musical partners\, and soon after started writing music together. And so Veranda was born.\nVeranda is a collaboration between Catherine-Audrey Lachapelle and Léandre Joly-Pelletier. With their first EP recorded in early 2019\, Veranda presents 6 original songs that blend traditional and contemporary\, simplicity and virtuosity. Their music is filled with sweet harmonies and soulful melodies. From high lonesome bluegrass to intimate folk ballads\, the duo offers a fresh take on classic country music. Imagine a place way out in the\ncountryside\, with Dolly Parton\, Ralph Stanley and Emmylou Harris singing under the pines; that’s where Veranda calls home\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/811516227864046/
