In this workshop we invite ourselves to awaken consciousness and connection with our bodies through guided movement. Drawing from tools such as improvisation and meditation\, we connect to physical sensations\, the joy of moving\, pleasure and effort. It is important to note that it is also a safe space to feel silly or even embarrassed. All of that is part of being human and we aren’t ashamed! \nWe suggest all participants come wearing comfortable clothes that feel good to move in and a water bottle. \nAs Queer artists ourselves\, we are eager to connect with the community in Saint John and provide an experience where we can connect to the pleasure of movement and awaken sensations in our bodies. The workshop will be led within the framework of Sensorial Improvisation and is geared towards all bodies\, with or without previous experience in dance.

SUMMARY:Felting on the Farm - a Unique Intro to Needle Felting
DESCRIPTION:We’re very excited to be offering our very first needle felting workshop on the farm! Join us on the afternoon July 27th as we start down the needle felting rabbit hole. This will be a relaxed\, no pressure\, gently guided workshop. We will be there to present ideas\, offer guidance and materials\, but it’s up to you\, as the participant\, to bring your imagination and enthusiasm. We will have everything you need to make your own wacky wooly\, or a flat felted piece.\nWhat makes this a unique workshop? We will be working outdoors\, alongside our small herd of cashmere goats and a handful of angora bunnies. Plenty of goat snuggling and visiting included! We will talk about all things fibre\, and everyone will have the opportunity to play with everything from raw sheep fleece to angora and cashmere. We’ll even have a couple of spinning wheels to try out if you’re interested!\nWhat if it rains?? If it’s rainy or terribly windy\, we’ll either postpone or move inside\, depending on how participants feel about it.\nCost? $40/ person\, all materials included as well as snacks. DESCRIPTION:Schedule: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm / Every Wednesday\, July 10 to August 21\, 2024\nSaint John Stories: 11:30 am – 12:00 pm\nLoyalist Pops Concert: 12:15 – 1:00 pm\nFREEWILL OFFERING\nThe Saint John Arts Centre & Early Music Studio of Saint John present\nThe North of Union Summer Series  \nListen as local historian and storyteller David Goss regales you with Saint John Stories\, entertaining tales of people\, places and events which are part of the rich tapestry of Saint John’s history. \nAfterwards\, enjoy a delightful 45-minute Loyalist Pops Concert with pianist Tim Blackmore. Each week he will present a different musical theme such as King & Country\, Balls & Assemblies and Opera & Theatre Airs. Tim Blackmore recreates the performance style and sound of the Loyalist period on a modern version of the small English square pianos imported to the colonies in the late 18th century. He introduces each piece with stories about the composer and the music.

SUMMARY:Acadian Arts Watercolor Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Eat\, Paint\, Listen (to a private concert) \nYour instructor\, Mary Laury is an accomplished watercolorist and highly esteemed teacher. She encourages all her students to believe they can be successful. Painting is an exciting medium; it flows and moves and does beautiful things. If you have never painted in watercolors\, we will start at the beginning. If you have painted before\, you will pick up some new tips and tricks as well. We all learn together! \nStep back to a time when President Franklin Roosevelt\, Eleanor\, and their family escaped to their “beautiful little island” in the Canadian Maritimes\, Campobello Island. We will be exclusive guests of the international park\, staying in historic Victorian cottages. Workshop participants will explore and paint the same coastal scenery enjoyed by the summer residents at the turn of the 20th century. \nAll meals are included in the workshop fee\, as well as specially planned optional evening activities designed to extend your learning from the day’s workshops\, including a private concert by award-winning Celtic Fiddle player\, Katherine Moller\, in the Victorian parlor of Hubbard House. \nRegister for the retreat\, then call Sherry Mitchell at 506-752-2922 to make room reservations.
