SUMMARY:The Last Call with Austin Eatman @ Wasted Day Brewing
DESCRIPTION:Couldn’t be more excited to announce our next show at Wasted Day Brewing on May 10th with our friend Austin’s Eatman! We’ve been working hard on new original material and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.\nGet your tickets at the link below:\nhttps://www.eventbrite.ca/e/the-last-call-and-austin-eatman-tickets-881486398547\nAbout The Last Call\nThe Last Call is a band from the Port City of Saint John NB\, that was established in summer of 2022. The band has a vast range of influences from pop to blues that contributes to their own unique sound which could be described as retro with a modern generational twist.\nOver the last year The Last Call has had lots of events across New Brunswick\, such as headlining the Saint John Moonlight Bazaar and opening for Classified at the UNB Fredericton Kick Off Concert.\nThe Last Call are currently in the midst of recording and releasing their debut first single which will be available in the near future!\nAbout Austin Eatman\nHailing from the port city of Saint John\, NB\, Canada\, Austin Eatman brings a distinct East Coast Alt-Folk style and melodic sound to his eclectic performances. \nIn 2017\, he recorded a song for every day in January\, culminating in his YouTube series (Song a Day Sessions). \nDedicating his life to this musical endeavour\, he joined with Mike Belyea to form “The Sound Investments”\, a folk duo who still play regularly. \nLater he formed a full band “The Austin Eatman Band”\, releasing their debut EP “Broken Radio” in early 2020. \nUnable to tour the EP\, Austin kept busy\, collaborating with local electronic artist and producer “FWLR”\, releasing songs “Lo-fi Beats To Realize You’re An A**hole To” (With FWLR\, and Colin Ferris of “Sheik”) as well as “Lads Me Boys” under the name Brethren of The Coast (with FWLR and Jamie Comeau) \nHe has gained notoriety performing at Paddlefest in St. Andrew’s\, Follyfest in Gagetown and in 2022\, opening up for Whitehorse at the 506 Container Village. \nCurrently he focuses on recording a new full-length album set to release sometime this year with his band\, and playing as often as he can.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/837979731457833/

SUMMARY:Ecstatic Dance/ Movement
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an ecstatic dance/ movement event in the heart of Saint John\, New Brunswick\, where we’ll come together to celebrate movement\, music\, and community.\nDate: Tuesday Mau 14th\, 2024\nTime: 7pm – 9pm **Please arrive a few minutes early or on time so that we can all start together.**\nLocation: The Kent Theatre\, 24 Coburg St\, Saint John\, NB\nWhat is Ecstatic Dance?\nEcstatic dance is more than just movement; it’s a mindful practice\, a sacred journey of self-discovery through dance and music. Unlike traditional dance settings\, there are no choreographed routines\, no judgments\, and no expectations. Participants are invited to let go of their inhibitions\, surrender to the music\, and move intuitively from the depths of their souls. In other words\, ecstatic movement is a form of self-expression.\nWho is this for?\nAll bodies looking to explore ecstatic movement.\nWhat to Expect:\n•Diverse Music: Diverse playlist spanning various genres and tempos\, from ambient sounds to tribal beats\, allowing you to explore a spectrum of emotions and sensations.\n•Safe Space: This event is a judgment-free zone where you can express yourself authentically without fear of criticism. We celebrate diversity and inclusivity\, welcoming people from all backgrounds and walks of life. There will be ZERO tolerance for discrimination of any kind.\n•Community Connection: Join fellow dancers in a shared journey of self-expression and liberation. Connect with like-minded individuals and forge meaningful connections on and off the dance floor.\nStructure of the Event: \n•Opening Circle: The group will come together and talk about what ecstatic movement is\, ask questions\, play a little get to know you game\, and review the event’s guidelines for consent and courtesy.\n•Dance/ Movement: The music will last about 1 hour and 15 minutes. The tempo and energy of the music will take you through a warm up to cool down journey to connect with your body and move as you wish. This time is for you to utilize as you see fit.\n•Closing: After the music ends we will regroup with everyone and share a few words about our experience. Spend some time connecting with other participants if you wish or take quiet time with yourself.\n•Facilitator: There will always be a facilitator present to offer insight\, direction\, structure\, and to hold the integrity of the container. Please feel free to tap the facilitator on the shoulder at any time for assistance or otherwise.\nWhy Attend?\n•Stress Relief: Dance away your worries and cares as you release endorphins and tension from your body.\n•Self-Expression: Discover new depths of self-awareness and emotional well-being as you express yourself freely through movement.\n•Physical Fitness: Get your heart pumping and your body moving with a full-body workout that’s as fun as it is beneficial.\n•Mindfulness: Cultivate mindfulness and mental clarity as you focus on the present moment and the sensations within your body.\n•Community: Meet like minded people and form connections that last.\nHow to Join:\n•Tickets: The tickets are on a sliding scale $10-$20. Purchase by sending e-transfer to carley.schandlen@yahoo.ca or CASH at the door. (there is a limited capacity – pre purchase is advised)\n•Dress Code: Comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement.\n•Bring: Water bottle\, towel (if you sweat)\, sock feat/ indoor shoes\, and an open mind ready to dance!\n•Arrival: Please arrive a few minutes early so that we can all start together.\n•Considerations: There will be no talking or phone use permitted in the dance space. Please step outside for these things as to respect the other participants.\n•Scent Free Space: Please refrain from wearing anything scented in the space.\n* DANCING & CONSENT *\nEnjoy your own personal dance or spark up creative movement with others\, if there is mutual agreement. If you wish to dance with another\, tune into their body language that will clearly give you a ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Respect that a person’s willingness to dance can change from moment to moment. At any time you\, or the person you are dancing with\, may choose to end the encounter by moving away\, or bowing with hands in prayer.\nDon’t miss out on this unique opportunity to dance\, connect\, and elevate your spirit. Come join us for an unforgettable ecstatic dance experience in Saint John\, New Brunswick!\nPlease feel free to contact me at carley.schandlen@yahoo.ca with any questions.\nAccessibility Note:\n– there are stairs up to the front doors of the venue\n– chairs will be available for individuals who wish to dance from sitting or hold onto something for support while they dance.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/457509240182726/

SUMMARY:Absolute Losers/Prism Shores/Townie/Owen Steel
DESCRIPTION:Come on out to Haven Music Hall on May 24 to see ABSOLUTE LOSERS\, PRISM SHORES\, TOWNIE\, and OWEN STEEL!!! \nDoors 7pm\nShow 8pm\n19+\n$10+tax advance\, $15+tax at the door! \nSince forming in 2019\, Absolute Losers have earned a reputation for their air-tight live shows that deliver one burst of energy after the next. In August of 2023\, they released their debut album\, “At The Mall\,” a danceable 12-track offering that confronts hardships without taking itself too seriously. On their debut\, the band camouflages pop sensibilities with wiry guitar work\, intertwining bass and drum parts\, and hook-laden\, nonchalant vocals. In their latest efforts\, Absolute Losers shed the camouflage and proudly bear their knack for catchy melodies\, soaring harmonies\, and straight-to-point pop songwriting.\nShaped by the aesthetic sensibilities of vintage UK/New Zealand indie pop\, Montreal’s Prism Shores blend the genre’s jangling guitars and deliberate melodies with traces of shoegaze\, dream pop\, and post-punk\, refracting their influences through a lens distinctly their own. Their sophomore album is due out in January 2025.\nBorn out of postcards and long distance phone calls between friends\, Townie’s trio of songwriters collaborates with a prolific group of musicians across the country\, featuring three insightful and unique voices\, they draw influence from folk revival with a DIY ethos.\nSince 2008\, Owen Steel has written and released various folk / garage sounds under his own name\, as well as with such acts as The Belle Comedians\, Mike Trask\, Dana Sipos\, and Motherhood. He has toured from Newfoundland to the Yukon\, Texas to Sweden and points in between\, appearing at folk festivals\, freak festivals\, basement bars\, soft seaters\, pizza joints and more; By thumb\, boat\, band van and train\, Steel has made his way under the radar and into the ears of a small but mighty group of listeners.\n——–\nAccessibility\nHaven Music Hall is a street-level small music venue without fixed seating. This show is combination standing and seating room only. Our entrance exterior is a 34″ wide door that has a small lip/step up from the street. Once inside\, our entrance vestibule has three steps up into the space with an interior entrance opening of 70″. We have two single-use washrooms with toilets. If you’d like more information about accessing our space please email abigail@havenmusichall.com.\nSafer Spaces Policy/Code of Conduct\nHaven Music Hall (HMH) is committed to ensuring a safer show experience for musicians\, audiences\, staff\, and volunteers.
