SUMMARY:***LAST 50 TICKETS***Daniel Champagne (Australia) LIVE at Charlotte Street Arts Centre | Fredericton
DESCRIPTION:The young Australian virtuoso returns to Canada for 56 intimate and one of a kind performances across the country!\nMay 31 – Charlotte Street Art Centre\, Fredericton\n7pm doors / 7:30pm show\nTickets (very limited) https://events.humanitix.com/daniel-champagne-australia-live-at-charlotte-street-arts-centre-or-fredericton?_gl=1*1uwzbza*_ga*NTAxODQyNTI0LjE2OTUyMjU3MTI.*_ga_LHKW5FR9N6*MTY5NTczMzAwOS4zLjEuMTY5NTczNDUzNy4zMS4wLjA.\nBIOGRAPHY\nGrowing up in the Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales\, Australia the story goes that the young singer-songwriter and one of a kind guitar virtuoso first picked up his instrument of choice as a 5-year-old following in the footsteps of a musical father. He began writing songs at 12\, training classically throughout his teens and performing wherever he could\, honing his craft and developing the dynamite live show that he is renowned for today. At 18 he finished school\, turned professional and hit the road without looking back.\nThe following 15 years have seen him independently release 7 studio albums\, tour relentlessly around the globe\, play some of the biggest festivals under the sun and share stages with the likes of Tommy Emmanuel\, INXS\, John Butler\, Lucinda Williams\, Ani DiFranco\, Judy Collins and Rodrigo y Gabriela.\nHe has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”\, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed” and from March to June 2024 he will be touring Canada\, from Vancouver Island in the West out to Newfoundland in the east and 56 towns in between!\nWHAT THE PRESS SAY..\n“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills\, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald\, CANADA\n“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in the thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.” The Firefly Column\, USA\n“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues\, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. I firmly believe that he will become an ambassador for roots music in a time where it desperately needs representation.” The Indie Blender\, CANADA\n“reinventing roots guitar” Rhythms Magazine\, AUSTRALIA\n“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” BW Review\, NEW ZEALAND\n“Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage\, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band\, Champagne is just magical” Themusic.com.au\, AUSTRALIA\n“You feel as if he just invented the instrument yesterday and was discovering its possibilities afresh” Ted Gioia (American jazz critic and music historian)\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1158026688918781/

SUMMARY:Paul Campbell - It's All About The Love
DESCRIPTION:Paul Campbell\, known to many Frederictonians as an entertainer who has been bringing crowds to the dance floor for decades\, has never considered himself a songwriter. However\, with the chaotic political climate of recent years\, he felt the need to complete his one and only attempt; a song he started to write while vacationing abroad in 1976. It’s now finished\, and in a move that’s very ‘on-brand’ for Campbell\, he has scheduled a celebration in its honor.\nSong For Democracy-1984 Redux finally gets its official debut on Saturday\, June 1st at the Charlotte Street Arts Center\, at the 5th Downtown Blues Band ‘Party For The Planet’. The band will perform two sets\, along with a special video presentation of the new song\, which will be preceded by a brief recorded interview with Campbell\, conducted by MRTI’s Rob Pinnock. The final song of the evening will be Song For Democracy-1984 Redux performed live for the first time in front of an audience.\nAs the long-time front man for Fredericton’s favourite party band\, the Downtown Blues Band\, Campbell has always chosen to keep things non-political\, but Song For Democracy-1984 Redux is Campbell’s anthem of love and hope in a world he feels is heading in the wrong direction for humanity.\nInspired by 1984\, George Orwell’s frightening look into the future\, and set in a totalitarian world\, Campbell seeks out the light of humanity in the form of LOVE\, and calls it out from the darkness as the song rises to its thrilling\, emotional peak.\nTickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Net proceeds will be donated to the purchase of supplies needed to help those displaced by the war in the Ukraine.\nPRESALE for CSAC Members on NOW and general sale will start Monday March 4th.\nDoors open at 7:00PM with show at 7:30PM.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/262052413607400/

Hailing from the vibrant city of Halifax\, Nova Scotia\, this female-fronted ensemble has carved their path through the industry with a blend of showmanship\, originality\, and unparalleled musicianship. Their electrifying performances have left audiences in awe across the expanse of Canada\, sharing stages with titans of rock such as Buckcherry\, The Glorious Sons\, and The Headpins.\nTooth & the Fang is the Folk/Rock outlet for Singer/Songwriter Geoff Smith and his revolving door of musicians from New Brunswick\, Canada. Performing both as a lonely troubadour and a thunderous 4 piece band\, Tooth & the Fang has graced the stages of festivals such as Pop Montreal and the Halifax Pop Explosion. Forever weary of being pigeonholed\, they’ve shared the stage with a wide variety of artists\, from chanteuse Julie Doiron to rockers Solids and The Sadies. SUMMARY:Living Roots- Union Duke/Lynne Hanson at Klub Khrome
DESCRIPTION:Our Double headliner show\, you will not want to miss\nUnion Duke makes their long-awaited return to Fredericton (5 years) and Canada’s Queen of Americana team up for this one time show..\nLynne Hanson at 7 PM\nUnion Duke at 8:15 PM\nTickets: $20 adv/$25 door/festival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/664/living-roots-union-dukelynne-hanson-at-klub-khrome\nPasses here\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nLiving Roots Music Festival recognizes that it is situated\non unceded\, unsurrendered Wolastoqey Territory.\nUnion Duke is two fifths country\, two fifths city\, and one fifth whiskey. They have been described as a raucous collision of alt-rock and twang\, bringing crowds to their feet with songs from the heart. Soaring harmonies\, driving rhythm\, and an infectious enthusiasm have seen these five guys from youth to young manhood and helped carve out a space for themselves in the annals of Canadiana.\nWith three full-length albums\, many singles\, countless festival stages\, thousands of records sold\, and hundreds of thousands of kilometres of road behind them\, the band is excited to be touring new music and winning new fans on their return to the endless highway.\nDuring their latest hiatus due to the Covid years\, Union Duke has been writing furiously and are excited to bring new music to their loyal fans. If you hope to catch them live\, you better get your tickets early\, because these fellas have a knack for selling out shows months in advance. Catch them while you can!\nToo tough for folk and too blues-influenced for country\, Lynne Hanson’s brand of porch music with a little red dirt can turn on a dime from a sunshine\, blue sky ballad to a full on thunderstorm of gritty Americana swamp from one song to the next. Her hard living music has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s Queen of Americana.” And while her deep\, bluesy croon has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch\, it’s the poetry of her lyrics that really sets her apart.\nWinner of two Canadian Folk Music Awards\, Hanson is known for her high energy\, roots guitar driven live performances\, whether playing solo or with her band the Good Intentions. She has an uncanny way of connecting with her audience with an authenticity that is as entertaining as it is disarming.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1558672794917395/

The band is authentically breathing new life into the underexplored genres of new wave\, goth and post punk. It is clear he was born to play music and that trajectory has led him down an illustrious path. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. Their music somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time\, it’s a rare and honest dichotomy.\nHailing from the Kennebecasis Valley of New Brunswick\, Canada and with songwriting that draws from both classic folk and modern pop influences\, Zack Ingles soulful story telling has garnered rave reviews from fans and critics across the maritimes. His 2024 release “Weathered Heart” was received with significant accolades across Canada; including regular airplay on CBC Radio 1. SUMMARY:Living Roots- Jordan Trethewey- These are the people in your neighborhood
DESCRIPTION:The event time is 1 PMEntry is by donation\nJordan will invite guests to read the poems he has written about their stories as well as reading some himself. He will open up for questions to be asked as well.\nJordan Trethewey’s tribute to the people of Fredericton\, a city I have never been to\, traveled nearly 5400km westward for a curious read. Civic poetry is a unique way of getting the scoop on what to really pay attention to in an unfamiliar space: the people. In reading about people from away (from me\, at least)\, we get to learn something pretty nifty: Frederictonians! They are just like us! Strip away the named location\, and these poems may as well be familiar and relatable to those living in many west coast cities and towns. The beauty of this 2021 – 2024 poet laureate’s work is that it is accessible to all — not just a love letter to Fredericton\, but a gift for anyone to pick up and feel seen. Intimate themes of family\, grief\, immigrant loneliness\, relationships requited and unrequited\, obstacles overcome and succumbed to are just a few which echo throughout this collection. What makes this work even more special is that each poem is a tribute to a real person\, living or dead\, or to Fredericton itself.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/409550611702362/

On stage the pair weave their cascading vocal harmonies over acoustic guitar-laden arrangements to tell stories that roam from rocky mountain highs to mysterious remote deserts\, while navigating their roles as settlers in this land. At the heart of it all\, Duke & Goldie’s magnetic chemistry on stage is what continues to captivate audiences wherever they go.\nFredericton singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Blaire Nicolle has become a familiar face on live music stages across New Brunswick\, sharing her own creations as a solo artist\, and lending her musical sensibilities to elevate the songs of others. SUMMARY:Living Roots- Brent Mason Band/Rick Sparkes & The Enablers at Khrome
DESCRIPTION:These two prolific songwriters will bring their wonderful bands for a full evening of song.\nDoors at 6:30 PMRick Sparkes & the Enablers at 7 PMBrent Mason Band at 8:15 PM\nTickets $10 advanced/$15 at the door/Festival passhttps://locarius.io/…/living-roots-brent-mason-bandrick…\nFestival passeshttps://locarius.io/…/living-roots-music-festival-2024…\nBrent Mason rolled back into Saint John NB in the spring of ‘92\, after several years roaming North America in his best imitation of Jack Kerouac\, riding his thumb and working carnival midways in Canada and the US. With a fistful of songs born out of an ‘On The Road’ ethos\, and a burning desire\, Brent recorded his first ‘singer/songwriter’ album. A true early indie effort\, Head for the High Ground set a long and vital career in motion. Brent performs innovative original music with insightful powerful lyrical content. In Spring 2020\, Brent will release his 11th album\, ‘Fireflies’\, continuing a commitment to honest\, provocative and often beautiful songs that has earned him international respect. He’s been called “the David Adams Richards of New Brunswick songwriters” by Brent Staeben\, Artistic Director of The Harvest Jazz and Blue Festival.Brent has been nominated for and has won several East Coast Music Awards and Music New Brunswick awards including Folk Artist of the Year\, Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. He is also the youngest recipient of the Stompin’ Tom Award for his contributions to Atlantic Canadian music traditions. In winter 2020\, Brent went on his 3rd Home Routes tour in support of his record in British Columbia. It’s a testament to his significant songwriting and storytelling abilities that Brent has been chosen 3 times for this coveted\, juried circuit. Brent has also toured across Canada\, the UK and Beijing.Brent is regularly invited to local stages including Harvest Jazz and Blues\, Stanfest and many other festivals and music events in the region. In his hometown Saint John\, his Wednesday nights are legend\, hosting O’Leary’s Open Mic Night. 25+ years at this regular gig has earned him the moniker “Godfather of the Saint John Music Scene”. He’s co-written several recorded songs with award winning artist\, Jessica Rhaye\, and conducts songwriting workshops in schools throughout the province.Brent is also a published writer and filmmaker whose conceptual mini-series “Grave Concerns” was picked up by CBC and broadcast nationally. These artistic “crop rotation” techniques into other genres finds Brent working on stories and word craft that informs his writing across the board. After 10 albums and thousands of performances\, Brent is a unique performer\, combining humour\, spontaneity and intriguing\, compelling storytelling. Brent’s shows are entertaining and memorable; he takes audiences on a wild ride from tender sweetness and a deft touch with troubled characters\, wry observations on politics\, to spitting anger at the unjust forces that twist our world.\nOriginally from Kennebecasis Valley in New Brunswick\, Canada\, Rick moved to Prince Edward Island in 2003 where he has worked as a writer\, a musician\, and a teacher. Since 2017\, Sparkes has released four full length albums (three as Rick Sparkes + The Enablers and one under the pseudonym Hazen Halls) and one EP\, all of which blend elements of folk rock\, poetry\, and harmony in ways that are both innovative and familiar. As a writer\, his poetry\, creative non-fiction\, and short fiction have received recognition through the Island Literary Awards and the CBC Poetry Prize shortlist. As a songwriter\, Sparkes’ albums have received critical acclaim across Canada and have been nominated for a number of awards including the 2022 Group Recording of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards for his album Pleasure in the Pathless Woods.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/385591784400031/

DESCRIPTION:“FOUR!!”\nWe are back for another year at Par 94 to rock the astro turf\nJoe Ross 8 PM\nLily’s Day 9:15 PM\nSoul Filter 10:30 PM\nEntrance\, $5 or festival pass\nPasses available here https://locarius.io/organizations/37\nSoul Filter is a four-piece\, award nominated Alt Rock-Pop band from Summerside\, PEI. Lead singer-songwriter Karen Penton weaves introspective silver linings through love and misery of the human condition with an often nostalgic 90s vibe inspired by artists such as Alanis Morisette\, Holly MaNarland\, Sheryl Crow & The Tragically Hip. The band’s latest singles “Quicksand Town” and “The City Knows” were both semi-finalists in the The International Songwriting Competition\, the former being produced and co-written by John Angus MacDonald of The Trews. In 2020 Soul Filter’s debut album “A Minor Conspiracy” garnered them a Music PEI nomination for Rock Recording of the Year. Band members include Karen Penton on lead vocals and acoustic rhythm guitar\, Marc Robichaud on drums\, Ronnie Arsenault on bass & Mike Penton on electric guitar.\nLilys Day is a rock/pop rock band from Saint John\, NB. They have been playing lots of shows over the past year and are turning heads with their powerful live performance. Led by a very strong female vocal. And guitar driven songs.\nIt may have been 20 years since Fredericton musician Joe Ross last entered a recording studio but as his latest single clearly demonstrates\, Ross hasn’t missed a beat. Where the Wild Resides is full of playful pop energy\, propelled by the laidback momentum of a lazy summer’s afternoon drive.\n“This is my first proper recording since 2003. Long dead in music years\,” said Ross. “It was tracked\, mixed\, and mastered at Shiftwork Studios by Dylan Ward. I borrowed his Marian bandmate Stefan Westner to play drums. Without us ever playing together before\, he nailed the track in a couple of takes.”\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/3555927501387616/
