SUMMARY:Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic - “In Polaroid” Album Release Fredericton
DESCRIPTION:Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic launch their new album “In Polaroid” April 27th in Fredericton at Broken Record Room & Bar with Special Guests IPACO and The Gregories\nDoors open at 8 PM\nshow at 9:30 PM\nTickets are $10 adv/$15 at the door\nStudents $5 at the door only\nhttps://locarius.io/events/703/dillon-ryan-the-dream-romantic-in-polaroid-album-release-fredericton-with-ipaco\nDillon Ryan & the Dream Romantic are an infectiously talented and refreshingly distinctive new wave band from the East Coast of Canada. The band is authentically breathing new life into the underexplored genres of new wave\, goth and post punk. Their inspiration from the Smiths\, Echo & Bunnymen and the Cure is marvelously palpable in their material yet their work remains completely fresh. Their hauntingly melodic landscapes swallow you into a cinematic gothic universe. It’s soothing yet scary and you just can’t get enough.\nThe perpetually evolving artist shows no signs of slowing down. It is clear he was born to play music and that trajectory has led him down an illustrious path. Dillon Ryan & The Dream Romantic weave melodic lullabies and gothic ballads that cling to listeners. Their poetic songwriting paired with a beautifully melancholic sonic landscape is an enthralling void to lose yourself to. In a world oversaturated with pathological positivity it’s exciting to hear such an emotionally generous band. Their music somehow makes you want to dance and cry at the same time\, it’s a rare and honest dichotomy.\nIPAco\nFormed in 2023\, IPAco (E-Pah-Co: Ian Paolo Acosta & Co.) is a Neo-Soul and RnB trio comprising seasoned musicians Ian Acosta\, Von Escueta\, and Jansen Felicidario. With their collective experience and passion\, they deliver soul-stirring melodies that promise an unforgettable musical journey. SUMMARY:IAN THOMAS: Full Band Tour | SAINT JOHN
DESCRIPTION:Call: (506) 674-4100\nBook online: https://bit.ly/3QXd4XS\nIAN THOMAS … NOT GONE YET! Full Band Tour\nIan Thomas is “the complete entertainment experience!” He is a film-composer with 22 feature films to his credit; an author; an actor\, much sought after as a voice-over artist and recognized for roles such as Dougie Franklin on the Red Green Show… and\, of course\, a Juno-award-winning Singer-Songwriter whose songs helped form the bedrock of the Canadian musical landscape\, a contribution recognized by SOCAN when Ian was honoured with a National Achievement Award for Songwriting.\nIan Thomas first garnered major radio airplay in1973 with the top-40 single Painted Ladies\, followed by a string of hits throughout the 70s and 80s\, and on into the 90s with his band The Boomers. Whether performed by him or covered by artists including Santana\, Chicago\, Manfred Mann\, America\, Bon Jovi and Bette Midler\, Ian’s many hits continually achieved heavy rotation on radio across Canada and around the world … recordings such as Come The Sun\, Long Long Way\, Right Before Your Eyes\, Coming Home\, Pilot\, Hold On\, Time Is The Keeper\, I Still Want To Hold You\, The Runner\, Levity\, Back To Square One\, Love Ya Too Much\, You Gotta Know\, One Little Word\, Dirty Love\, To Comfort You\, and of course\, Painted Ladies.\nIn the new millennium\, Ian joined fellow singer-songwriters Murray McLauchlan\, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church to form Lunch At Allen’s\, touring coast to coast for the past two decades\, and now with five albums to their credit.\nOf his art\, Ian says: “The song remains the most satisfying creative experience for me. Songs are interactive and\, with over 50 years of writing\, I have spent many hours with each one and they with me. When I listen to one of my old albums\, I remember where I was and the people I made them with\, some living\, some now dead. I think about who I am\, who I used to be\, and who I thought I was. These albums are like flags stuck in the road behind me that wind back\, into the past\, almost out of view.”\nIan Thomas\, with his stellar 4-piece band\, brings past to present recreating the original sound of all the hits …70s\, 80s\, 90s and beyond. SUMMARY:David Francey presented by The MRTI Agency
DESCRIPTION:David Francey is a Scottish-born Canadian carpenter-turned-songwriter\, who has become known as “one of Canada’s most revered folk poets and singers” (Toronto Star). Born in Ayrshire\, Scotland to parents who were factory workers\, he moved to Canada when he was twelve. For decades\, he worked across Canada in rail yards\, construction sites\, and in the Yukon bush\, all the while writing poetry\, setting it to melodies in his head and singing it to himself as he worked.\nA truly authentic folk singer\, Francey is a documentarian of the working person who never imagined earning a living from his music. But when he was in his 40s\, his wife\, artist Beth Girdler\, encouraged him to share his songs and sing in public. The reaction was instant. His first album Torn Screen Door came out in 1999 and was a hit in Canada. Since then\, he has released eleven albums\, won three Juno Awards and has had his songs covered by such artists as The Del McCoury Band\, The Rankin Family\, James Keelaghan and Tracy Grammer.\nFrancey also had the honour of receiving the prestigious SOCAN Folk Music Award as well as taking home the Grand Prize in both the International Acoustic Music Award and in the Folk category for the John Lennon Songwriting Award.\n“David’s straightforward songs tell honest stories of real people and real places. Poetic perception and a keen eye for the heart of the matter are trademarks of the man and his music. His songs and stories are a direct connection for audiences seeking depth and meaning in the day-to-day.” Shelter Valley Folk Festival\nDavid Francey was born in Ayrshire\, Scotland where he got his first taste of the working life as a paperboy. At age 10 he was devouring the newspapers he delivered\, establishing a life-long interest in politics and world events while developing the social conscience that forms the backdrop of his songs.\nHe was twelve when his family immigrated to Toronto. He says he can trace his love of the land\, the history\, and the people of his adopted country to weekend family drives exploring southern Ontario. Music played a large part in these family outings. They sang traditional Scottish tunes as they drove through the Canadian countryside. Dad and sister Muriel sang melody\, while mother and David sang harmonies.\nHis attachment to Canada grew with travel. He hitched across the country three times\, then thumbed his way to the Yukon. This attachment surfaces in his songs of rail lines\, farms\, and the St. Lawrence Seaway. He grew to understand the people while working in Toronto train yards\, the Yukon bush\, and as a carpenter in the Eastern Townships. These experiences colour his first CD\, Torn Screen Door\, with songs like Hard Steel Mill\, Gypsy Boys\, and Working Poor and his second\, Far End of Summer\, with Highway\, Flowers of Saskatchewan and February Morning Drive.\nIn concert David is a singer and a storyteller. His wry humour and astute observations combined with his openhearted singing style have earned him a loyal following.\nDavid lives with his wife\, artist Beth Girdler in the quiet but charming Lanark Highlands in southern Ontario. They are visited often by their son Colin\, daughters Amy and Julia and grandkids Tristan\, Alice and Millicent\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/342293201883287/
