SUMMARY:Candace Bushnell: True Tales from Sex and the City | Fredericton Playhouse
DESCRIPTION:True Tales of Sex\, Success and Sex and the City\nIn her new one-woman show\, New York icon Candace Bushnell\, the international best-selling novelist and creator of Sex and the City\, takes us on a whirlwind tour of New York City. The original Carrie Bradshaw herself\, Candace Bushnell has lived a full and fabulous life. Her story began with a 1990s New York Observer newspaper column about the lives of her and her friends – dating\, parties\, fashion\, and the big city. Today that column has been adapted into a massively successful franchise (four books\, a tv series\, and two movies)\, and it all started with Bushnell.\nIn this dishy new performance piece\, Bushnell walks the audience through her story: what was embellished for print\, and even juicer\, what was 100% true. Her stage debut (at 65!) garnered high praise from The New York Times\, who noted that “Under the direction of Lorin Latarro\, Bushnell is conversational and accessible onstage\, endearing rather than alienating to those looking on from the outside.”\nThe stage\, dressed as a massive walk-in closet\, lets Bushnell’s stories shine. She discusses the experience of being dumped by her Mr. Big just as she was publishing her first book\, proving that there’s certainly more to life than dating. Indeed\, at the core of her work\, and her life\, has always been her friends. “Maybe\,” she writes\, “our girlfriends are our soulmates\, and guys are just people to have fun with.” From Studio 54 to Sex and the City to Lipstick Jungle and beyond\, Bushnell shares her remarkable philosophy through stories of fashion\, literature\, and sex\, all while pouring cosmos in Manolos.\n.\nThanks to our Performance Partner\, Parkland Retirement Living!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/843316797163887/

Her perceptive lyrics and undeniably catchy melodies are illustrated by a classically trained voice\, warm and textured with a laid -back richness. With influences like Joni Mitchell\, Brandi Carlile and Sharon Van Etten\, her music is ethereal\, lush and real.\nCurrently based in Fredericton\, NB\, Fox exudes fun and love for her art and for storytelling\, which is evident on “Confetti” (April 2023)\, the lead single from her second studio album. “It’s a bright and brooding alternative rock ballad\, which speaks to the nostalgia of novelty\,” explains Fox. “I was thinking about how the newness of romance can fall and simply be swept away — like confetti.”. This track\, and the album\, Sequoia (release date TBC)\, are produced by Daniel Ledwell (Jenn Grant\, The Good Lovelies\, Fortunate Ones).\nFox’s debut album\, Green (2020)\, led her to tour Canada extensively\, sharing stages alongside names like Bahamas\, The Strumbellas and Joel Plaskett\, along with showcasing at the East Coast Music Awards (2021)\, Folk Alliance International (2021) and the Canadian Song Conference (2021). She participated in the Banff Centre for the Arts International Songwriting Residency (2020) and the SOCAN Equity X Music Production Program (2023).\nFox is also a music educator\, freelance composer\, songwriting instructor and voice teacher. kyliefox.ca\nKylie Fox est une auteure-compositrice-interprète canadienne\, fusionnant le récit indie-folk avec des éléments vintage de jazz et de rock alternatif.
