SUMMARY:Paul Campbell - It's All About The Love
DESCRIPTION:Paul Campbell\, known to many Frederictonians as an entertainer who has been bringing crowds to the dance floor for decades\, has never considered himself a songwriter. However\, with the chaotic political climate of recent years\, he felt the need to complete his one and only attempt; a song he started to write while vacationing abroad in 1976. It’s now finished\, and in a move that’s very ‘on-brand’ for Campbell\, he has scheduled a celebration in its honor.\nSong For Democracy-1984 Redux finally gets its official debut on Saturday\, June 1st at the Charlotte Street Arts Center\, at the 5th Downtown Blues Band ‘Party For The Planet’. The band will perform two sets\, along with a special video presentation of the new song\, which will be preceded by a brief recorded interview with Campbell\, conducted by MRTI’s Rob Pinnock. The final song of the evening will be Song For Democracy-1984 Redux performed live for the first time in front of an audience.\nAs the long-time front man for Fredericton’s favourite party band\, the Downtown Blues Band\, Campbell has always chosen to keep things non-political\, but Song For Democracy-1984 Redux is Campbell’s anthem of love and hope in a world he feels is heading in the wrong direction for humanity.\nInspired by 1984\, George Orwell’s frightening look into the future\, and set in a totalitarian world\, Campbell seeks out the light of humanity in the form of LOVE\, and calls it out from the darkness as the song rises to its thrilling\, emotional peak.\nTickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Net proceeds will be donated to the purchase of supplies needed to help those displaced by the war in the Ukraine.\nPRESALE for CSAC Members on NOW and general sale will start Monday March 4th.\nDoors open at 7:00PM with show at 7:30PM.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/262052413607400/

SUMMARY:Mama's Broke at Sanctuary Theatre
DESCRIPTION:DOORS AT 7 PM. ALL AGES. Mama’s Broke is a powerful duo that deliver a compelling performance with heart and raw energy. Although highly influenced by their Canadian roots\, Lisa and Amy are based out of nowhere and everywhere.\nTheir two strong voices blend to create haunting harmonies\, while they artfully juggle fiddle\, banjo\, guitar and mandolin\, and incorporate traditional dance and foot percussion into their performance. Their original -and often dark- compositions push the boundaries of tradition and the constraints of genre. Drawing from old-time\, Quebecois\, blues\, punk\, celtic\, balkan and doom metal\, they create a soundscape that is both familiar and new. Presented by Harmony House SJ\, at Sanctuary Theatre\, with Interaction School of Performing Arts. Tickets provided by www.ImperialTheatre.ca\nBe sure to watch them on Tiny Desk and check out their website and facebook pages! You can stream them on all streaming platforms.\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/440600745586037/

SUMMARY:Living Roots- Free to Grow (Album release)/Black Suit Devil/Noelle Frances/Josh Ritchie
DESCRIPTION:Our festival kick-off show will feature an album release performance by Fredericton’s Free to grow\nBlack Suit Devil at 7 PM\nNoelle Frances at 7:45 PM\nJosh Ritchie at 8:20 PM\nFree to Grow at 9 PM\nAdvanced tickets $10/At the door $15/Free with festival pass\nhttps://locarius.io/events/661/living-roots-kick-off-show-with-free-to-grow-album-releaseblack-suit-devilnoelle-francesjosh-ritchie\nFestival passes\nhttps://locarius.io/events/566/living-roots-music-festival-2024-festival-pass\nFormed in 2014\, Fredericton’s Free to Grow won the Stingray Rising Star Award at the Fredericton Harvest Festival in 2015. Our songwriter was the recipient of the 2023 JL Music Composer Award. \nThe band has performed at over 40 festivals/events/venues throughout New Brunswick including in Bathurst\, Miramichi\, Moncton\, Sussex\, Gagetown\, Fredericton\, Saint John and Saint Andrews. Our original rock music is heavily influenced by “classic rock” and our songs have charted in the UK\, France\, Germany\, Spain\, South Africa\, Australia and the US and Canada. We have released 3 full length studio albums plus a live album and a fourth studio album is being released on June 5.\nJosh Ritchie is a born performer. Ever since he could stand he’s had a guitar in his hands and songs in his bones. Now a captivating performer\, Ritchie commands the stage with the confidence of a seasoned front man. From the minute the kid walks on stage it’s obvious he was meant to be there\, serving audiences larger-than-life\, stadium-rock energy at every show.\n Ritchie describes himself as an “impressionist singer-songwriter\,” likening the principles of his craft to those of the impressionist painters of the19th century. He doesn’t spoon-feed you a linear story but rather makes an impression of a feeling or a memory\, creating a unique connection with each and every listener. His music is both ambitious\, bold and big enough to fill a whole room but at the same time technical and refined when you take a closer look.\n As a young and ambitious person of colour\, Ritchie quickly became fascinated with the relationship between art and activism. Growing up\, he was influenced by bands and artists that weren’t afraid to make a statement with their art and he strives to do the same himself. In 2021 Ritchie put this into practice releasing a self-titled EP about his experiences growing up BIPOC in rural Ontario.\n His second studio album Love at the End of the World\, which further explored these themes\, had a sold out launch event at Lee’s Palace in Toronto and went on to obtain attention throughout North America through such outlets as The CBC\, Cashbox Radio\, Canadian Beats\, Record World International\, Volatile Weekly and many more.\nNoelle Frances is a folk singer-songwriter\, harmonizer\, creative collaborator currently living in Deshkan Ziibi/ London ON.\nInspired by the storytelling that exists in the diverse genre of folk music Noelle writes in a way that is simple\, honest and quick to connect to. Noelle is a witty and charismatic performer who draws in the audience with her joy. She meshes a lighthearted presence and stage banter with emotionally charged\, uplifting and sometimes haunting songs. Lyrically she taps into the angst and beauty of life. Each song has a soul and largely speaks to the resiliency of human beings.\nNoelle is part of a self managed\, internationally touring band “The Pairs” and also performs as a solo act. Noelle has opened for acts like Irish Mythen\, Kim Churchill\, Kellie Loder\, Jim Bryson\, and The Brown Hawking Stanley Trio. With The Pairs Noelle has had the opportunity to play many iconic folk festivals like Mariposa\, Summerfolk\, Hillside\, Calgary Folk Fest\, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest\, and many more!\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/1099883661254096/
