LINDA McLEAN’S UPCOMING IS A DOUBLE LAUNCH:
NEW MUSIC AND A NEW BOOK OF ATLANTIC CANADA
“Once in a great while, out of the blue, comes an indie masterpiece. Such is the case of Linda McLean… Another superb Canadian female singer-songwriter you need to seek out.” – Maverick Magazine, UK
“McLean’s lyrics are gently introspective and reflective, and they possess the ring of hard- earned truths.”—Exclaim Magazine
“Ranked among the best of her North American contemporaries; country-tinged beauty with reference points stretching from Lucinda Williams to KD Lang.” – UK Music Media Review
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Linda McLean showcases her multi-talents this April with the release of new single ‘Write Your Song,’ the first track from her new album, Songs for the Book, due for release April 23rd, 2024. The album is the musical accompaniment to her new book, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IMPORTANT, a narrative non-fiction that follows her own creative journey to self-love and belonging, available for pre-order now.
Songs for the Book act as an exclamation mark for each chapter and provide readers with a way of connecting even more deeply with McLean’s narrative non-fiction. “The Importance of Being Important” touches on creative struggle, self-sabotage and her journey to self-love through songwriting and singing. There are a number of touch-points for readers to listen to the songs, discovered through each chapter via secret listen links and lyric pages.
April 20, Fredricton, NB, Charlotte Street Arts Centre, 7:30
McLean is setting an abundant table, aiming to nurture her audience one heart at a time. A master storyteller in her prime, her performance of Readings and Songs is part entertainment, part internal contemplation, and part ‘let’s sing together and feel great about life.’
Songs for the Book is McLean’s fourth full length album, and is raw, gutsy and reflects the introspective themes in the book. The first single ‘Write Your Song,’ was written while McLean was traveling solo at age 63, farm-sitting in northern France, and reflecting on this overarching message: the way to being our best self is to stand in the centre of all life and know we are responsible for our choices.
This has already been a big year for her, with the release of 2 singles earlier in the year, and the formation of a new band, Linda McLean & The Awakening. With influence from Blue Rodeo and Neil Young, the band has been selling out venues all across Nova Scotia, including two back-to-back nights at The Carleton in Halifax.
As a creative jack of all trades, Linda McLean is breaking barriers, combining her music, writing and performance. Stay tune for lots more to come from this exciting artist. More info at www.lindamclean.com
