Have You Ever Thought You Might Like to Write a Book? A writing Workshop with David Goss
Since 1996, our presenter David Goss has thought of it many times, and has actually done it 25 times.
Each of his nonfiction books have been done for different reasons and have come together in different ways. Some have been with established publishers, others have been self published, and still others have been privately published by someone who wanted a book done to mark a milestone. All have turned out well, and sold between 300 and 7,000 copies. This has made this a profitable venture over the last three decades, and it is David’s opinion that there is a valid market for new issues of some of the books he has done in the realm of ghost stories, Christmas celebrations and general history and folklore that could be explored by others as he is ready to put down his pen in the near future. If this is something that might interest you, this day long workshop might be appealing. David and his books will offer tips on what he has done, and how he has done it. It may help move those participating along the path of writing their own book. Perhaps it will be their life story, or the life story of someone in the family, or some firm that is celebrating a milestone. Examples of each type will be given, and how the process that brought the book to fruition was done, where to find ideas, how to find publishers or sponsors, how to market the finished product, all based on what David has experienced.
In addition, at each session, there will be a writing assignment that David has found worked for him as a tool to overcome what is often called “writer’s block.” These tools are based not only on the books David has done, but on experiences he’s found that have helped him in authoring some 3, 526 ( as of January 05 2026) paid for articles done for newspapers and magazines nationally and internationally.
So even if you do not wish to do a book, if you are interesting in improving your skill as a writer, you may find this day of value.
It will be held on the premises of the Write Cup Bookstore Cafe, 1 Market Square, Saint John on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 10- 3 p.m. with two one hour sessions in the morning, a lunch break at noon, and a chance to meet and chat with David one to one, then two one hour sessions in the afternoon, followed by another meeting time for one on one with the author.
