Hip hop school at Xeroz August 1st! Doors 6pm – Event Start 8pm
Goodchance Underdog Rhythm & Poetry Club’s 7th installment is Thursday August 1st at Xeroz Arcade Bar. Join us for the first night in our updated format that alternates workshop nights and jam/showcase nights.
August 1st will be our first PURE workshop night, and will be geared towards helping everyone prepare to showcase and participate in the jam. The night starts at 8pm with an in-depth look at sampling. We’ll cover why and how to sample and host Jan Martin will make a simple loop from start to finish using group input. Once the loop is completed we’ll talk about the basics of rapping and play a freestyle game to get some practice and get people equipped to practice on their own. The rest of the time I will be available to help anyone get prepared to join the jam or showcase at our next event in September. Whether you are already making beats or just looking to get started, Jan will help you figure out the best way to get ready to join the jam or to showcase. If you can’t or don’t want to make your own beats, they’ll help you with the process of finding free beats that match your style.
If you’re interested in joining the jam or showcasing but aren’t quite feeling ready, this is the night for you! If nothing else this is a great night to bring your questions, lyrics, and music to share with the group.
