Tots will create and decorate bird paintings inspired by Graeme Patterson’s exhibition Strange Birds. We will use paint, fabric, trims, and wool for a 3-D effect.
January 26: Winter Fun for Frostival
For Frostival this year, Tots will be inspired by the painting A Slide by Thomas Webster and by winter activities in the city! We will be using drawing and painting materials to create a fun Frostival inspired painting.
February 9: Big Bird Prints
This week, tots will be inspired by Kenojuak Ashevak’s drawings and prints of arctic birds to create large bird prints using styrofoam and water-based ink on paper.
February 23: Soft Sculptures
Tots will explore unusual sculptures from our collection and will create their own yarn and felt sculptures inspired by the creatures they encounter in the gallery!
March 15: Mini Mural Discovery
This week, we will explore murals in the Harrison McCain Pavilion and will create their own mini murals using markers, tissue, and coloured paper.
April 5: Colour Play
Inspired by colorful abstract paintings in our collection, the tots will create mixed media collages with paper, yarn, markers, and fabric.
